The original flap on my 803a is fine. It is a very simple design that works and totally seals the opening when it is not running. Mice can't get in. I think the ones on GL that are stuck open have been tampered with. The tractor flaps from TSC are noisy and leave a large area around the pipe...
Thanks for your efforts. It looks great. I just received a 2nd brand new controller from GAC that was dead on arrival. No response to the adjustment screws and it ran at WOT. They are very good at replacing them but it is still a PITA. I decided to dry two of my old ones out as suggested. I...
I reached out to the moderators and asked what the mechanism is for creating a Sticky. The reply I got from Willwagner one of the moderators was to "post the P/N's and cross over numbers". I have no idea what he means and asked for clarification. No reply so far. If anyone has any ideas I would...
I installed one. I posted photos of it awhile back in the MEP803 fuel level adjustment thread. If you remove the metal piece in the middle that makes it longer it is identical to the OEM part except that the wire is longer. It can be wrapped around the shaft to take up the extra wire length...

This is a forum to discuss generators but it has individual threads such as this one. Glockfan also started a good thread about how to hard wire your generator to your house. If you click on his name then click on threads you will see it. It is easy to get off topic. I have done it many times...
Thanks for the reply. I guess I'm getting a bit dense with age but would you please give me a little more info such as: Where do I post it? Right here? What is a p/n and where do I find it? What are the cross reference numbers and where do I find them?
The screen on my unit was clogged with something that looked like ground up kleenex. The engine only had 2.2 hours on it. I had to change the oil 6 times to totally clear it. The head nuts were also very loose causing a minor oil leak.
The best way to find parts on Ebay is to follow Guyfang's advice and search using the NSN. They are often on the site but not listed by the generator name.
Yes all gauges work. Since I put a new controller in everything works great. It only had 2 hours on it since reset. I usually fuel it daily when I have a power outage and never run it enough to go through a tank in a day so I never noticed until recently. It isn't a concern but it would be nice...
Make sure the fuel level is not low. One of my 831a's loses output when the fuel level is low. The no fuel light doesn't come on and it runs fine but the output stops. I have no idea why this happens. I just make sure to keep it fueled.
My gauge was giving erratic readings. I removed the sender cleaned all the connections reinstalled it and it pegged below empty. A new sending unit fixed the problem.
It is a lot easier if you have a means to tilt the generator away from the rad filler tube. I have a tractor with forks but you could use a farm jack on the skid. My 803A also had a bent overflow nipple that interfered with turning the rad cap. I used a piece of steel rod in the nipple and bent...
