Hopefully the address on your driver's license is also the address for your cell phone. They need to establish residency. Matching addresses is the main way they do this.
Very good advice sir! I will check tonight. Noob question though, the jack shaft is the small shaft between the transmission and transfer case, correct?
(These forums are so knowledgeable.)
Ooh, nice!
I'm convinced the deuce is a gateway drug. As soon as you own it for awhile, you will want to upgrade to something bigger. Good job moving right to the big trucks. Congrats!
After thinking it over, it was most likely gear oil and not motor oil as I first thought. It was a dark fluid, so it really could have been either motor oil or dirty gear fluid from the tranny. I was expecting the gear fluid to be a lighter color, but in hind site, when I checked the diffs, they...
Okay guys, thanks for the help. I would love to fix it myself, but time and experience are lacking with me. I'm going to see if I can lure a deuce mechanic from Ft Lewis to work on my truck.
No kidding, I'd love to get those!
As for backing, that is exactly what I did. My dad stood near the back of the deuce with a flashlight and shouted out directions. It sort of worked, but I couldn't see a thing.
The pintle hitch on the front is a great idea!
So I called NAPA for the 356 bulb. They said non were in stock and nobody had singles. The only way to get them was to buy a box of 10 at $2.99 a bulb. I wasn't going to do that, so I checked eBay and found a seller selling the same box of 10 bulbs for only $7.50 after shipping. That's a much...
Moved from this thread...
At first I wasn't too concerned. I figured maybe it needs a rear main seal and would get around to fixing it later. Now I'm concerned that the clutch may be contaminated with motor oil, or that gear oil and motor oil are mixing somewhere in the truck.
I assume that...
It didn't occur to me that oil was getting on the clutch, but now that you mention it, that could be a serious problem.
I may start a new thread if nobody sees it here that can help.
There's a second problem and rather than starting a new thread, figured I would post it here.
After driving 100 miles to my destination, I noticed dripping coming from a hole at the bell housing under the truck. (It's the hole that can be plugged for driving in water.) The drip was motor oil...
Thanks for the info. I'll switch to the 356 bulb. My speedometer gauge has always been under-illuminated. I will multimeter the voltage first and set it to 28.5 volts first though.
Any instructions on adjusting the voltage if I find it is too high? I'd assume there is an adjustment screw or something around the generator/alternator.
I wound up giving my deuce a seriously long workout yesterday. It got a nice long drive of about 200 miles round trip when I went to pick up an M105A2 trailer that was for sale on Craigslist. The darnedest thing happened on the way home. When I was about 30 miles from home one of the dash bulbs...
Picked up the trailer late last night. It's a beauty, ripe for restoration. I took these photos this morning while heading out for work, but I forgot to get one of inside the bed. It was early and I was still tired from the late drive last night.
What an experience it was trying to back a...
I tried to take photos with my cell phone, but no luck. The pictures keep coming out black where the wiper motors are because it is too bright outside.
You are correct DC. The replacement went a-okay. There is a noticeable speed difference between the two. The plastic one is faster, but not by too much.
