The TM calls for GAA ("Put light coat of GAA grease on o-ring (Figure 3, Item 4), mount o-ring on water pump body"), but I like the idea of anti-sieze. I would think that would lead to better success down the road, especially if it's been there for years.

Thanks for the crickets! An IETM is an Interactive Electronic Technical Manual. Google it like Doghead says...
The P2P is different than the IETM. The IETM will allow you to interactively diagnose while plugged into the vehicle. The IETM requires a MSD (Maintenance Support Device), so with...
Does anyone in-the-know... know if the IETM for the 5 tons (M939 series) will ever be released? I see some IETMs floating around out there for other "stuff", but not for the 5 tons. I've found listings of the IETMs for MVs on various mil sites (like for example Redstone) and they do not list...
I just did exactly that last week. I pulled my dash light assembly and used the super fine sharpie (the one with the metal tube tip) and it worked great. I was super careful and the lettering looks really good. Went to do the same thing on the gauge panel and stopped after two gauges. It...
I put a true four bank battery minder on mine that I keep plugged in all winter. I use it intermittently in the summer. I also installed a block heater (30 minute job). After two to three hours plugged in, it fires like it was summer. I also installed a winter cover over the grill. Mine...
The TMs specifically outline how to do the zipper boots. It even gives the specs on the adhesive you are supposed to use on the zipper. The TM requires letting the adhesive set up overnight prior to fastening it on the knuckle. I followed the TM to a T, and they have performed as good as the...
My bet is the numbers are there. I used a wire brush to clean off my frame and thought I saw some faint numbers but it was iffy. I drove it to the State folks and they used an acid etch (or some chemical to turn the stressed part of the stamping a different color) process to "lift" the serial...
Here is the wiring diagram from P2P. Connect AND CHECK all the wires and then give it a try. I also suggest disconnecting and reconnecting all the ABS connectors, front to back, even at the EUC. Mine didn't work and it was just a corroded connection on one wire.
Good luck.

The wiring diagram is in the TMs. Are you using the -24 or the -23? The P2P also has a superb wiring diagram and pictures of each component. I would say a good start is to reconnect the two cut wires... That may be why your light is continuous and no-go on initialization.

Doesn't the TM say to flush with diesel? I know all the auto and tractor manuals from that era say to flush with diesel. I had a similar situation on my 1950 JD tractor and a good diesel flush did the trick. All the rust may be a problem down the road but you never know - you may get lucky...
I look forward to seeing more pics (your post #5). I also invite anyone else with a fender mount antenna to post pics as well if that's ok with the OP.

Where does one tie the antenna down? You have yours towards the back but the mirrors prevent them from tie-ing down all the way (less than 11 feet in height or so). I thought I saw another post where they said they tie down towards the front of the vehicle on the opposite side. So for the...
