    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

I have a digital hall effect sensing tach that I bought a few years ago for a project Lathe I built. I bought 2 at the time to have a spare but never used it. Today I mounted it in the case it came in and set it up. The Red Square is the tach. The Arrow points to the magnet and the Oval is...

    My M998 build log

It was easy to find the old thread where you got your information from however it is wrong and was posted as hearsay (heard from a friend who heard from a friend, etc). Owning both and actually doing it are 2 completely different things. Please post the pictures of when You installed a Ford...

    My M998 build log

Too bad they are so strict but at least you have a good solution. And thanks.

    My M998 build log

Excellent picture. Yes I know there are parts in the steering column that are made by Ford. I know some are labeled "Escort" and are used in Ford Escorts. Specifically, #1 is a Common turn signal switch for Ford and it fits Bronco II, Mustang, Tempo, Topaz, Aerostar, ESCORT and Many more...

    Finally mounting my airlift bumper.

Watch the Video from 22:00 to 22:15 minutes, For this reason I would not follow his lead.

    My M998 build log

You might be able to modify it and force it to fit but it is not a bolt in. They are not even close to the same, at least not the ones I can find. Please get a Ford part number, I would love to see how it mounts. Here is a Ford Escort steering column. And here's the H1

    My M998 build log

If you already have it on the way and it solves the immediate issue, sounds great. It will not connect to the military wiring harness directly. When you switch out the column what are you going to do for directionals? I am not familiar enough with the H1 but It isn't likely to be plug and...

    My M998 build log

You mentioned that in my build thread a long time ago and I looked, they are not the same and not even close.

    Versions of HMMWV Tachometers

You can ground the case since the light negative connects to the negative terminal and then also contacts the case. In other words, it won't hurt anything to try but I don't think that will make a difference. Sent you a PM too.

    Versions of HMMWV Tachometers

You are not missing anything. I have the same tach and sending unit and it is hooked up the same way (basically) and it works great. I assume you have tried spinning it in both directions?

    Anti-theft measures?

oops. LOL. I know it isn't intended for a end all solution. However consider going to a steel closed end rivet from the bottom. It would look and be a lot more difficult to get through.

    Anti-theft measures?

I wasn't picking on your post, just the item. I completely understand what you posted. Thanks, sorry for any confusion. On my truck I am working on rear steering and figure when I park it I can just turn the rear wheels and that will defeat anyone who thinks they can steal it.

    Anti-theft measures?

That little aluminum rivet sure looks secure. LOL

    Recommendations for a Tach on a '92 M998 with a 6.2 and a generator

There's nothing to look for. There is a connector on the tach sensor and all it does is connects to the ICE plug for troubleshooting. Unplug that sensor and plug in a twisted pair of wires and run it to your tack. Here is a picture... mine is black, yours is yellow but they are the same. The...

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

Approximately 5 weeks ago I made the comment that I just needed a simplistic valve to operate the rear steering cylinder rather than a much more expensive proportional type system. Then I explained a more complicated system. After explaining I got to thinking about it more and that was that...

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

I changed the wipers because I was installing a dome light in front of the wiper motor. I changed the light switch so the open switch goes to the white light and the lock switch side goes to the blue light. I installed Rivnuts and rubber isolaters to mount the light.

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

You made it sound so easy, it was not but I guess it could have been much worse. The end result is it's done. Thanks for the instructions.

    Humvee Radiator Fan Clutch

What are you using to determine that it is engaged all the time? Is it just because it is still spinning? Just an FYI but the fan spins all the time when it is running but when engaged it spins with much greater force. When the engine is running you can disconnect the the time delay and that...

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

The original wire used for the motor was a 4 conductor multi gauge wire. Two 12 gauge wires and two 14 gauge wires. I wasn't able to find that wire so I went with 12/4 outdoor audio cable. Any other 12/4 wire was too thick to fit the water tight compression fitting. I crimped on spade...

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

I ordered a couple LED lights that matched the ones I used on the dash panel. The new speedometer had an incandescent light bulb that I figured was the reason the lighting is orangish. I changed out the light bulb and here's the results. I also changed out the Tachometer light as well. It...
