Dog --
there have been enough rumors about this, that I thought it easiest to ask, and my hunch was right, that the SS crew would be able to point to the sources of some of this.
Just what I needed to start things up.
Now the question is, was an Executive order? and order from the...
Gl & hummwv
Ok after the FMV plate bill, I have started on a new project, outside of the bobber.
I need any info people have on the reason and timing that prevents hummves from being sold to the general public.
I don't need conspiricy theories or rumors. I need dates, times directives DoD...
Ok so parked it on the drive last night and shut her off, then went to crank it back up and no deal, batteries are dead. So there goes a Sunday project.
this morning i got up and noticed a puddle under the passenger front side of the axel. The back side of the tire has gear lube splattered on...
Ranch -- sorry again for not trying to make a post from the GL lot and catch your message to me. I wish I would have caught it to help a fellow SSer.
Aside fromt that, got to the GL and checked in, Seth was a help as always. Got out to the truck and started looking her over. Tires were good...
Arrived around 19:00. Steak house was closed so dinner and beers at the china king.
We wil be at it in the AM. Hoping thattraffic we saw going south bound was just the weekend touristsas going home.
More to follow. . .
Well here we go again. Tommorow we are heading up to Sparta to stage for the recovery of my 923. Finishing up the check list and loading up the truck with little things like oil, anti-freeze and such.
Quicy trip to Farm and Fleet to get a few extra items and we'll be set. Gonna hook up with...
The bill goes into effect immediately. So I will contact the Sec. of State tommorow and see how soon they think it will be available.
And btw, I asked to be put on the list for #1 for the under 26,000 for my bobber project . . .
Now that the bill is signed I forgot to mention, these plates...
(a) The owner of a former military vehicle may register the vehicle for a fee not to exceed:(1) $100 for a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,000 pounds or less;
For a Duece this will save $177
(2) $150 for a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 to 45,000 pounds...
Guys -- thanks for all the good input.
As for not bobbing it, I think I will call it a Duece "coupe" I got it to have fun with. We can have the debate about bobbing or not over beers.
I hate typing from my IPad.
I plan on keeping the bumperetts and wanting to have the tailgate fold down like it does from the factory.
the drive shaft if no biggie as I figured on having to get it lengthened.
And yes I plan on using the stock bed cut down. i think it make s a better...
I tried searching, but me and that thing don't seem to get along or speak the same langauge.
So when bobbing a duece, how much frame do most guys take off the back end?
Looking at shortening the box, if I cut out 36" of the box, I move the front bulkhead to where the second stake pocket is...
More good news, I have to confirm, but I am told the state changed their regs on Antique Vehicle plates and took off the 8000 LB weight restriction.
If true, this means all the older dueces will be running for dirt cheap. and any of the new stuff like an A3 or 923 will get between a $400 and...
The bill passed the house today 112-1 the one no vote was a mistake and the rep was out of his seat and someone else vpted his switch.
It now goes to the governor
a little more on the committee and stuff.
The committee has four dems onit that are considered targets. Meaning they will be targeted by the republicans this fall. As is the norm, anything that looks or smells like a fee increase they all vote no on.
The Chairman hates new plate bills...
The bill just passed the State Government Committee unanamously.
It will be reported to the clerk tommorow, and eliglebile for a floor vote next week. I don't anticipate any problems from here on out. Today was a big hurdel, and we cleared it easily.
Bill has come out of the house rules committee and is now scbeduled for a hearing next week in the State Government committee in the House.
Working the bill i think it will pass, but calls to committee members won't hurt.
You can find the committee here:
