New arrival - 1097A2 in need of Soft Top

It's always a good idea to ask the SteelSoldiers forum, in the Parts Wanted section of the Classifieds. Head's up, eBay has a lot of counterfeit Chinese parts infiltrating its listings. Can be very hard to spot. As far as HMMWV parts in Germany, that's something I can't comment on. We do have...

    Soft top from scratch

Sorry to hear tobyS. Hope your thumb ad projects recover quickly. BDGR

    Soft top from scratch

Yes, according to their website Herculite military fabric meets MIL-PRF-20696, which is the governing mil standard for fabric performance. My source makes their textiles to the same standard. But I appreciate that lead 87cr250r, because maybe if I call Herculite it will turn out they will sell...

    Soft top from scratch

Good question. I’m not aware of any. Perhaps someone knows and will chime in. BDGR

    Soft top from scratch

What kind of material are you looking for specifically? 1000D (Denier = the weight) Cordura nylon is easy to get in quantity. I like the seller textile_specialist on eBay for their prices and selection. They sell in bulk and by the yard. My early HMMWV soft slant backs were all made from this...

New guy with a slant back question

I sent you a PM (conversation) with some details. BDGR

New arrival - 1097A2 in need of Soft Top

Then you can get a 4-man top in a matter of days. WW is the best source I know of and stands behind his work. BDGR

New arrival - 1097A2 in need of Soft Top

In my opinion, there's nobody better than William Welch https://www.facebook.com/groups/967096063720957/?hoisted_section_header_type=recently_seen&multi_permalinks=1777351852695370 He has had trouble shipping overseas a few times, but as far as I know he will at least try. BDGR

HMMWV rear curtain and bed cover prototype

Going to shelve this bed cover project for a while. I'm not sure I like it after leaving the prototype on my truck for a couple weeks. Needs underside support fur sure and it tends to sag regardless. I have some ideas, but am going to focus on soft slant backs for a while. Then maybe tire...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Finished sewing a new soft slant back to replace my old one made out of ballistic nylon. Ballistic is NOT a good fabric for large items like this bc it changes size greatly due to heat/cold, rain and sunlight. Can be very tricky to get on and off. And it didn't weather very well overall. This...

Log of my M1165. Project Joshua.

Some people take time off to go to the spa, resorts or the beach.... I never understood them either. BDGR

    EZ-TCU Standalone Controller

Call Jeff Symansky at Tactical Truck in Marshall Virginia. He's on the site. He did mine and I never had any trouble. BDGR

    Humvee beadlock rubber runflat replacement

They make them in batches and with some ireegularity in terms of schedule. I found it was best to call periodically and ask when they might have another production run. They tend to sell out fast, but once I had a sort of phone relationship with the employee on the other end I knew when to hit...

    Humvee beadlock rubber runflat replacement

I had trailworthy fab's beadlocks and Treadwright Guard Dog remanufactured tires on my M998 for three years and have not had any issues at all. I concede I haven't done much off road and don't drive weekly, but I still am pleased overall and cannot find fault with either product. BDGR

    Bimini Jeep Style Top

William Welch of Blue Ox Tops on Facebook has some great products, including bikini tops. In fact, I can't beat his price for a bikini top (and I don't yet have a good design anyway). WW and I have been in contact and have agreed not to compete. He's going to send requests for soft slant back...

    Best carc stripper

I just discovered dustless sandblasting too and am thinking of using it to blast my HMMWV CARC off. BDGR

    First HMMWV

We have many members with various parts if you post a Want to Buy note, and there are sites like SECO and Kascar that are mentioned and used frequently. The SS member 'Country' on here runs Eastern Surplus and has many parts, and vehicles. Outside of those, Black Dog Customs and Midwest Military...

    First HMMWV

Check the regs of the facility, but in my experience they don't allow maintenance, and even if the truck runs many state that it MUST be towed or trailered off the grounds. Your mileage may vary. Congratulations, and welcome to the group! BDGR

HMMWV rear curtain and bed cover prototype

I appreciate you sharing this idea Sjoconnor, and thanks to others who have posted or reached out via message. If you had a double strip of velcro sewn in just like on the rear of the soft top it would be relatively water resistant. We could probably make it work well enough. I could do that...
