Does the XM381 guy ever respond to email? I've sent a couple of questions over time and never received a response.
If you order one of his converter boxes what's the usual lead time?
I hit 3,000 miles so I did an oil change and all-around fluid check. The only thing amiss is the driver's front portal hub is wet. It's always been this way. The fluid level isn't really going down. I do have a seal kit and one of those Blue Hummer spindle lock nut kits for it.
The 3-lever...
Oh, the access panel doesn't give enough access to replace that top panel on the tank itself? That's a bummer. I guess it's just for replacing the fuel sending unit. Well, before I cut or drop anything, I want to crawl in there and find the definitive source of the leak. I may be just over...
On that note, I do not have the fuel tank access mod. I have seen it posted somewhere. Is it in the TM section?
Would I be able to fit a wet towel on top of the fuel tank while I cut out the access panel with a angle grinder/cutter as an ignition safety measure?
Sorry to dredge this up.
I have a leak, might be the gasket might be the fill tube. It definitely happens when the tank is more full than less full. My truck is very old, has to be 80's because it has the old mirror mounts. I have the old parking brake (disc on drive shaft).
What's the latest...
Needless to say, the price of fuel has put a hitch in my giddyup. I'm driving my FMV's less frequently.
After at least a month, I fired up the M813 and took a maintenance drive after a thorough pre-check. I received more friendly waves than usual for deep blue Maryland. Even in a static...
Sounds like the air is slow to bleed off. I'm not an expert on the air pack. I'm replying to bump this thread to the top so that someone more knowledgeable will contribute.
I live in a Liberal, suburban area. I have no wrecker and no FMV friends nearby so if I break down, I'm screwed.
I paid for the roadside assistance plan with Hagerty. They swear up and down that they'll send a commercial sized wrecker to tow me home if break down. I prodded the guy on the...
If you wire them improperly, you can cause the other headlight to burn out. I've done it twice. The first time was because the BACK of the bucket had the ground crossed with the low beam wire and the second time was because the wires were incorrectly labeled on the new bulb. Once I got the...
Can you expand on this a little? You installed permanent (non-sealed beam) housings and then you just swap out a smaller bulb similar to modern passenger cars?
Edit: Ok, I googled. I see what you did. This is a modification that I might be willing to make. Thanks!
This might sound dumb but I'm not really interested in upgrading to LED headlights.
I recently purchased some Ashwami headlights off of fleabay. They actually state "made in the USA" but I'm highly skeptical. When when they arrived, the wires were tagged totally incorrectly and I smoked a...
I also have an M813. Water (moisture) that has sat in the air pack can also cause problems like this. These trucks lack an air dryer. It's one reason why it's important to purge the air tank daily. Unfortunately, I am not well acquainted on the air pack part of the truck yet.

Ah, interesting. I've seen the OZ on several of the tires. I had no idea what it meant.
I have a few manufacturers on hand. I notice that the Titan T-Hawk tires do not have the OZ marking.
@juanprado I did have a good tire that the tube let go on. I plan on putting a new tube in it and keeping it as a spare. The part where the valve stem attaches failed.
Your point about temperature is well taken. I always walk around and touch all the tires and hubs after a drive, just to see...
