    Passenger side headlight, short

It's ok, I found the problem. (I was using the big wiring diagram out of the -20) This is an M813. Some jackwagon swapped 91 and 17 on back of the DRIVER's headlight bucket. Apparently someone was clever and figured out that if you swap the same wires inside the PASSENGER bucket, the lights...

    Passenger side headlight, short

Ok, in addition to the meter I rigged a test light. Something between the headlight buckets and the hi/low switch is definitely wrong. It may be the switch. With both headlights removed, using the test light on one bucket at a time: - In "low" the passenger low beam (#18) lights the test...

    M813- Wire #40

    Gauge illuminators/panel light. Po-tay-to/Po-tah-to. ;) Thanks.

    Passenger side headlight, short

Wait, according to the diagram that's not correct. It's either/or not "both." Maybe I've found the problem. Let me run out and check again.

    Passenger side headlight, short

With power OFF, I have turned the combo switch to "service drive" and activated the high beam foot switch. There is continuity between all three pins in the headlight bucket. That seems correct to me because I think both beams are on when in "high beam." ...aren't they?

    M813- Wire #40

I have a small 24v-12v stepdown converter that I'd like to use. I'd like to use an un-amplified, bone stock CB radio and cell phone chargers on this circuit. I have no plans for high current draw stuff like electric tools or air compressors. Wire #40 feeds the gauge illuminators from the...

    Passenger side headlight, short

This problem involves the OEM incandescent bulbs. I am NOT running LED's anywhere in this truck except for the gauge illuminators. I observed my passenger headlight low beam not working. I grabbed a spare headlight bulb and it promptly smoked the low beam again. Ok, the passenger low beam...

Inflating tube tires with lock ring wheels

@silverstate55 Thanks for the bottlejack idea!

Inflating tube tires with lock ring wheels

Yeah, I wouldn't use them in a pro shop environment. I'm swapping tires worn down to the indicator bar with some decent used (mounted on wheel) tires I bought a while ago. I got exactly one swapped out yesterday after work. The short daylight hours plus the time it takes me to drag out the...

Inflating tube tires with lock ring wheels

I also found manual/mechanical versions of the bead breaker that are much more affordable. You simply use an impact gun to crank down a jack screw to break the bead. Given that people break these down with a tire sledge, I think the hydraulic bead breaker is overkill for the MV hobbyist...

Inflating tube tires with lock ring wheels

Ah, quite right. I've been staring at deuces and had 9.00 on the brain.

Inflating tube tires with lock ring wheels

No, I'm very vanilla. Just sticking with the stock tire size and configuration. Wouldn't 12.00's require the bridge truck spacers?

Show your 5 tons in the snow.

Pffft... I'm not coming up there to get arrested by your authorities. I have enough problems with my own brown shirts. Why are local owners reluctant to talk to you?

Show your 5 tons in the snow.

Shouldn't you be out there participating in some sort of convoy that I read about recently? ;) I should have taken my M813 out when we got that foot of snow at the beginning of the month. We haven't had enough snow since, to make it worth it.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Did you see that someone paid $27,9k for a 923 at the Barret-Jackson auction recently? The truck you're painting is in similar good condition. Maybe you should take advantage of some wealthy person's stupidity and put that truck on the auction block! ;)

Inflating tube tires with lock ring wheels

I'm not afraid, I'm vigilant. I know what I don't know, so I'm here to get that knowledge and assess my skill set against the requirements. If I feel that even with the knowledge that I won't be able to do the job safely, I'll find a professional to do it for me. What I know right now, is that...

Inflating tube tires with lock ring wheels

I also just learned that if I don't break the bead and press the tire down first, that locking ring isn't coming off no matter what I do.

Inflating tube tires with lock ring wheels

Ok, I have a bunch of dried out and/or bald NDCC tires on wheels in the backyard. I removed the valve cores awhile ago and let out all the air. Yesterday, I figured I'd start breaking them down to get rid of the tires and give the good tubes away to neighborhood kids to use as floats in the...

    M813 cold start procedure

My pre-heater works. Yes, do pull the throttle handle out a few clicks first. As often happens, I read the instructions way too literally and was initially operating the thing incorrectly. After heating up the glow plug and flaming some fuel through it, keep the pressure up and crank the engine...
