I agree that a lot of it must be due to the cold oil. I picked up a deuce yesterday and it was about 10 degrees, it still had the stock filters on it but when I started it it began leaking oil out of one of the canisters. I tightened it down a little and it seemed to fix the problem.
Ya it seems to be in nice shape, I previewed it the week before, still has the goodies! They said they have to try selling it to other municipalities for at least 1 1/2 years before it goes to public auction. That's another reason I'd rather have it trailered home.
I need to see if anyone can haul an M816 wrecker from just north of Madison, WI to Blaine, MN. It's 280 miles door to door. I was going to drive it but I can't do it until next week and some of the highs next week are only in the single digits for temperature. I'd like to check it out good...
I checked with my local semi tire shop and they wanted $15 ea to break the bead, I wanted to do a few so I went and spent $90 and bought a duck-billed hammer and it works the best, better than my slide hammer that just about threw out my elbow! I like the heavy equipment idea though!

I know this is an old thread but I didn't want to start a new one on the same topic, I am looking for the replacement channels too for the soft top and need a little help. I checked GMA's site but I don't seem to find any products list or catalog. Or is there another place to find the channel?
Man I like that look! What size tube did you use? I've read a lot of threads about 395s on stock rims and a lot of different size tubes have been used.
I've heard that about the ones down south, apparently we (Midwest) got some of the first produced A3s with the patched hood. Really makes the whole front end look like an afterthought.
