Yessir. Should be some free play in the "fork to rod" connection. Another thing to help confirm the need for adjustment is by looking inside the inspection plate in the clutch housing (bell housing). The throwout bearing should NOT be turning. If it is, the clutch isn't completely...

My best guess would be a grounding issue on all but the Tach. I would suggest a good clean place on the dash plate and another on the dash panel with a ground wire between them. Use a pencil and shorten the ground - but leave 2 or 3 feet of ground so you can work on the dash plate in your...

Well, it dang sure isn't cheap but those solve the problem of the thin metal being "dimpled" by the bolts if there are gaskets below the valve cover...

If you are on a cell phone, often times it will download it into a "downloads" folder. Sometimes it is a real pain to figure out WHERE your phone put it. Some are fairly large too... If you have an Android, swipe down from the top - and most of the time it will show you that the download...

Welcome to the Outfit!
Chances are that you will find assorted wires that are just hacked off and left in place. Part of the De-Mil process. A lot of them will still be "powered" so you will need to follow them back to the source. A lot will be for radios or computer terminals.
Short...

Not a whole lot of adjustment to do other than to ensure that you have some "free play" in the linkage. Guessing there is a 5 speed manual in your truck?
Are you having some specific problem?
.
Lots of good stuff there @ToddJK !
MedKit and survival supplies just come as part of the truck for some of us. Others not so much. Glad you remembered to mention it...

Project is looking good!
The factory sealed those valve covers with some sort of silicon. The cork allows you to tighten the gaskets and the "squish" of the cork allows the metal pans (valve covers) to bend and distort - and allow it to leak - more than it would if it was hammered out...

Only concern is how to lubricate the compressor...
Seems like a heck of an idea, but those compressors have freon and compressor oil to keep them from overheating. Maybe somebody else knows more than I about that?
.
So, I found a couple of threads talking about "Tool Kits" and "Spares" that you might want to read over. Both of the ones I found are bigger trucks - but the idea is the same. Getting any kind of list will give you a good starting point...

Welcome to the Outfit!
And yes, like @Tinstar suggested reading old threads will help you a lot.
There are quite a few guys here who have plenty of knowledge to share.
Glad you are the new owner of a piece of green hardware.
Snap us up some pictures! It doesn't matter what it looks...

Maybe my memory isn't as good as it once was, but when I turned wrenches on Dueces and 5-Tons daily plain old blue silicone is what I used. Let sit for a day and trim the excess. Truck couldn't "graduate" from the Truck Shop with any leaks... When they were returned from a job, the things I...

Welcome to the Outfit! From North Carolina...
So you have personal knowledge of the line shacks and how serious those guys in the blue jeeps could be! Friend who works here in the printshop spent most of his time over near Goldsboro. His job was dealing with allergies. Lots of times on...

The "Dead Line" are the trucks that have failed in some form or fashion. Something dramatic like an IED hit or as simple as the starter going "click" when you turn the key gets them in that line. The Motorpool guys either fix what is broken or they shove the disabled truck over to the far...
.
And if there is some time on an auction, you might paste a link here and ask questions.
Don't post up a what do you guys think, but more like "I spotted something" missing or extra on this particular truck. That will get something you can use to learn about the auctions and the trucks. And...

The starter has its own battery lead going to 24v at the batteries.
On the solenoid, the terminal closest to the block is the positive.
REMEMBER: Following the wires with your own hands is the guaranteed way to wire this puppy.
Guessing sometimes cost big money

Nice looking vehicles!
Heck, that switch is no problem in the grand scheme of things.
I might not even need a swear jar for that kind of problem.
Just keep on trying the key til it works!
:)
Or invest in a switch

What about this?
