Thank you all for your information and advice I have a engine manual on the way and will work on pulling the engine and tearing it down as winter project . kenny
I have tools and equipment to do either .I priced used take outs for about $3000 with shipping over $4000 If I pull my engine out I would replace all liners and pistons and have the injector pump checked or rebuilt and the turbo rebuilt so that my be close to the price of the take out engine...
My 67 m52A2 mulitifuel engine has always had lots of blow by but really did not use any oil till the last time out .Them it lost power burned 1 1/2 gallons of oil from the exhaust and from the blow by tube . this truck seat about 20 years when the Forest Service had it so I think it my have...
If your trailer has the fuel tank mounted to it a lot of DOT rules do apply . but if you have a engine mounted that runs off of the fuel tank . the rules do not apply .
Wade I have some 1100 20 mounted up some are NDT and some are civilian tires if you want to check them out they may or may not be better then some of the tires on your wrecker . you are welcome to them . I also have some duel Tire chains you can use .
It would like to know what engines have been put in m52 style trucks and worked out . My m52a2 needs a fresh rebuilt multifuel or a different engine I have though of putting a mack engine . But would like to know what swaps worked .
I will get some pictures and post them when I can . I used a regular 6 pole connection for the 6 volt and a 7 pole for the 12 volt and the large military connection for the 24 volt
Nice trailer my 54 m269 has three light plug ins 6volt 12volt and 24 volt so maybe by the 1960s the 6 volt was gone for good . also I like about your trailer is no torque rods that will save you at least $ 1000 dollars .
Each state is different in New Mexico I use Progressive commercial for my m52a2 I'm good for 80.000 pounds and both of my trailers are listed on my policy . Allstate sold me a policy but when I go the policy in the mail it had a 10'000 pound limit . what ever you get make sure you are covered .
Nice job. with new wheel cylinders you should not have any problems and won't have to go in to the brakes till it's time to grease the wheel bearings again in a few years.
When any of us go to the DMV to get any thing military registered we want it to be as correct as possible . they have enough problems enter the information and the computer accepting it . it seams they like long numbers .
on my m211 I keep the coolant just where I can see it in the fill cap . because the presser relief is just a little higher then that . and any coolant at that level will just get blown out . so keep the coolant below the presser relief and you should be fine .
