I did some reading on various industrial boards related to Grove cranes and it seems that the Swing Brake is not fully disengaging. Circuit is probably not building enough pressure to release the brake. Now I just need to figure out what is leaking where.

Hello! New 2000 M1084A1 owner. I really need some help getting my Crane working. The Swing rotates about 3 degrees in either direction and then appears to bind. Not sure if there are hard stops inside somewhere but I did not see any. I see in TM 9-2320-279-34-3 that there is a Swing Brake Valve...

If it has a bunch of blowby then you know the damage has been done. If not then you should be good to go. Vacuum everything out and enjoy.

The Hemi 5.7 has problems. They like to drop valve seats in around year 2005 gen cars. Newer 5.7's roller lifter bearings seize wiping out cam lobes. I would rethink that choice.

I dont understand what good the wheel is if one doesnt turn the boost up. I got a 1165A1 too and picking it up this week. Pumped.

Geof, I would be very interested to learn more about the Tatra program and why it wasnt pursued. In my opinion nothing Oshkosh produced comes close to the mobility of a Tatra spine chassis. I love Tatra trucks and hope to get one to the states eventually. I own an MTV and MTVR and dont see them...

So what is the reason for this shearing issue? Bolts coming loose and joint clanking around on them till they shear? Threadlocker is not sufficient? Locking bolts are required?
