    Central FL M1031 project

Good evening all. Back into the fray…. I suspect I am having transfer case to transmission gasket and seal issues. The dipstick on the trans shows full when cold, I removed the fill plug for the transfer case and almost took a cherry juice shower. So, now I am collecting parts to reseal...

    Central FL M1031 project

Exspensive, but well worth it. This was really interesting to learn. The glass guy would not do it. Youtube to the rescue! i made a better battery disconnect switch plate than the fire department. Theirs was functional and expedient but I prefer mine. There is still much to do. All the...

    Central FL M1031 project

Most of the following pictures are self explanatory, but I will comment as I reflect upon them. I took as far down as I am able. Good and green again. I put roll on bedliner on the floor pans before painting. It feels good to be putting things together rather than disassembly.

    Central FL M1031 project

I have been very busy in the last three months. The balance between family, work, and hobby have been shifting a lot. Family has sadly been on the short end of the stick. I am working to correct the imbalance. I have gotten a lot accomplished on the hobby side. I have learned how to rebuild vent...

Pics of members rides in their parades

Hello All! we had a nice Veteran’s Day parade in Inverness Fl today. TheNational guard brought out an upsrmor Hummer, and I managed to get my M1031 drivable just in time. I love having the storage capacity for all of the gear we need for the Cadets to march in the parade.

    M 1031 duel wheels

I am curious. What was the difference between the m887 work box and the m1031 work box? Did the m887 have the gasoline generator? I have seen some m1031s with PTO driven gens and some with gasoline gens.

    M 1031 duel wheels

I have an M1031 with single rear wheels. This is what I found on wikipedia: The M1031 was the chassis cab. These latter trucks were all rated for heavier 3,600 lb (1,600 kg) or 3,900 lb (1,800 kg) loads, compared to the M1008s 2,900 lb (1,300 kg) load capacity. The M1028A2 (converted M1031 or...

    Belt tighten sequence

If you look at the bottom adjusting bolt on the power steering pump, the bolt takes a 15 mm socket. BUT, on the other side of the bracket is the “nut” that the adjusting bolt threads into. You can put a 15/16 socket on that. Then use a ratchet strap from the ratchet and socket to the outer tie...

    Steering wheel chain

I still use the one in mine. I list it as an antitheft device with insurance.

Good times this evening. The rear glass was installed yesterday. After school today I managed, with my good buddy Archimedes, to mount the work box back on the frame today. You get creative when you have to work alone.

    Central FL M1031 project

Hello All. I have manageto get few more things done lately. The back of the cab is now painted. I hope to get the back glass in this week. Once that is done, I will be ready to put the work box back on. Apparently either I am able to or I am not smart enough to upload video. I have been...

    Central FL M1031 project

Evening, All, Had a good afternoon today. Managed to get the diff back and set today. Had to replace the diff cover though. The oil/water mix that was in the axle created a lot of pitted metal. The axles go back in tomorrow. Next up: finish sanding and painting the cab so the back window...
