I slapped them on the tie rods ends. Looking like they could have been a bit wider against the knuckle side... BUT tried one all buttoned up...Smushed tight and sealed good enough for Mr. HumV. Going on 8 years and no cracking, leaking, dirt/dust intrusion... Better than NEW. Red ones get...
YES to all of that and more. (y) My post is to simply show what can be going on in the tank. Thinking it thru to the whole fuel delivery system. One would not want crap (maybe beer) flowing thru one blood system... so just pointing out what can be lurking in the tank and shut down that NU to...
From gears to pickle's... I thought there was a lot of great information shared. Once and a while the guys in the shop will hide a lunch pail or toss a wrench🛠.
OK, which one of you monkeys ate all the pickles. 🐵🙈🙉🙊
Just another day on the internet shop floor, CAMO
Back at the motorpool...
Got your attention ? I don't usually link to UTUBE but this is a good one IMO. Diesel fuel and it's issues. Just another thing to consider when doing a precheck on that new to you old HumV.
Watch on two time speeds. Who works that fast ....lol
Tiger in the tank, CAMO
Metal or plastic... Both are going to be expensive. Check with BULLDOGGER. He has skills to make such canvas craft in the past Could be opportunity here $$$
Rock, paper, scissors... CAMO
Voice from the back of the club house... It's a HumV not a bathtub or submarine.
First thing I did ...cleaned all that crap off for a visual and clean electrical bare connections, Through OUT the HumV. That never been done before? Something I can see and work with.
Under the glopped on...
Here's a tip to the flasher. See the attached drawing, to eliminate the flasher unit.⚡
Connect a jumper between the two pins "A" to "B" flasher connector cable. ( a 3 inch piece of solid 12 ga insulated wire with 5/8 bare ends, think romex)
This will provide continuous power to allow...

Can't find the paperwork, but got the BIG picture. At the time I ordered they were the largest one they made. At first they didn't look quite right but when tighten down... snug and sealed. After 7 years still like new and red...
For all those reasons, 🤔 and my own thoughts. My M37 case used gear oil and it's still going 60 years later. My HumV transfer case will be a guinea pig test truck a tax right off. Get some baseline temp measurements and the whine (which has been a noise coming from ?) and then switch to...
Just kicking this around the shop.... Transfer case aluminum ATF... Iron case gear oil. Like the OP said, gears is gears. Those transfer cases do seem a bit sloppy. Now the automatic transmission that's another story with it's clutches, and control valves. Gear oil in there and it's a brick...
A rule of thumb is that if the case is cast iron, use a gear oil, or in the case of the np203, you need to use 30wt motor oil. Aluminium case Dextron lll.
Next under the truck drain and fill.... as an experiment I think I will bypass the cooler and swap some fluids. Looking too see if it...
I like the way you think on the transfer case. 🤔 Never used ATF in any of the transfer cases till the HumV show up. OEM guys are going to have something to say.
All 👂's.
Thinking outside the box (y) Gearbox, CAMO
The little I know ?? it doesn't take much change in the steering components to affect geometry, then show up at the steering wheel. So I take it that going down the road true and straight... the steering wheel center spoke is off. Funny LOL it is an adjustment / Spec in the TM.
Needs...
Time to make some comparisons between parts?? Using AMG parts on my rebuild and being the goof I is... The spokes were close to what the TM wanted. To dial it in, the tie rods needed a little tweek while keeping toe aligned. You are right... all the linkage / coupling is keyed as I remember...
Likely is the mast support, missing parts with a antenna bracket added in an unlikely place. A little weird to see it configured as a troop carrier ???
If it was all there, that would be a keeper too, CAMO
Rhino tire carrier, That's a BIG plus. Deal le oh on the on the side is the deal le oh... I have no idea. Not the antenna support gizmo that I have seen before. If it is ??? it is missing a large bracket down by the bumper.
Extra parts for sure, CAMO
