The first “big” breakdown was with one of the M818s. I was pulling a M373 out of Richmond and the bolts holding the fan hub bracket failed. Do to time constraints I had a commercial big truck towing service do the job. It was just shy of 100 miles and the bill came to $583.
The next one was...
I should add something else about MEK. It is OK to use on CARC; however, it will affect enamel paint. Just as acetone is used to determine whether one is dealing with CARC or enamel, MEK does the same thing.
The first thing that I would look at is when was the fuel filter replaced, then the air cleaner. If you haven’t been around diesels you probably would be surprised how important that is. I don’t know the fuel situation in your area. However, around here a fuel filter only lasts around 10...
If it is the hook side of the Velcro it may have been installed for use with MILES. The old MILES sensors were on strips that were held on with Velcro. I think the new system is different. The best thing I have found to remove the glue, stickers and what not is MEK (methyl ethyl ketone). Just...
Winches and the cables that go with them are not to be “played” with. If used improperly one can get hurt. With that said. I usually go by if it isn’t broke don’t fix it. Steel and synthetic both have their advantages. From my experience unless one is using a winch daily steel is the better...
It all depends on how you plan on using it. Mounted in a truck and trying to use one is asking for trouble. Just trying to install one with safe clearances would be difficult. They are somewhat large for a small group and unless you are planning on cooking for at least ten or more people there...
I had a secondary filter that was just tight enough to seal but was just loose enough to leak. The truck would loose prime every so often. Did and went through the usual checks and could not track it down. One time when I was priming the system after it lost prime I slipped and my hand bumped...
Even though you didn’t mess with the secondary fuel filter it may still be your problem. It can’t hurt to loosen then re-tighten it to make sure it is sealing. Ask me how I know.
The NAPA batteries around here are Deka, manufactured by East Penn Manufacturing. The batteries made by Deka and Excide are mil spec. The ones sold by Interstate are not mil spec. From my experience, I have found that the Interstate batteries only last two maybe three years. The Deka batteries...
I had a leak like what you described on the 923A2. I thought it was the front seal on the cover and found out it was the front cover gasket. I found it easier to remove the hood and radiator to access the front cover. The radiator went in for service while it was out. The harmonic balancer will...
I have the Military C30 version. That model has both a 12 and 24 volt plug for the trailers. The C30 version only has the 12-volt plug. They have S cam brakes on the drive axle and wedge brakes up front.
The 81mm ammo cans I have are the green metal ones that are tall, hold three rounds and have the water tight lid. I only have a few of the plastic tubes you refer to. Any they are in the reusable metal brown chests.
I only have a couple of things to load out in the morning and then I will get on the road. Should be there a little after 1:00pm. If anyone needs some 81mm ammo cans I can load them in the am. I also have some short 40mm cans.
There hasn’t been to many speaking up about stopping by Thursday...
Those look like the commercial Hawker AGM batteries. Hawker generally won’t sell the “military” 6TL AGM batteries to the public. However, they do make a commercial version that they do sell. And yes they are expensive.
I use a face shield when I can also. I just find that it tends to get in the way when crawling underneath a vehicle or climbing in an engine compartment.
Safety glasses are something to have and use.
Some time ago I had Lasik done to my right eye. The only drawback was my reading glasses were of little use anymore.
You see it is one of those things in nature that just as the clothes that you may have been wearing for years shrink over time...
You statement on it being very expensive has me curious. The last time I priced it out, and that was some time ago, it ranged from $79 a gallon to $83. I guess I’ll have to call Richmond in the morning to see what the current price is.
