CUCV Heaven, My build of a 1009 and 1008

So he had a fun morning swapping out his lift pump. He did it all by himself laying across the top of the radiator. He got under for the fuel lines but fished the bolts in and out from up top. To be 17 again!! Took about an hour. Unfortunately, the new one didn't work at all, so I hooked up an...

    Brand new 12v/24v alternators

That does look like the correct isolated ground style you need. Yes if you test the ground it shouldn't be there on the case as well. One thing I would suggest, if you haven't already, is hit the tech sticky on how to diag these alternators....there is a great one in there that will walk you...

CUCV Heaven, My build of a 1009 and 1008

So it happened again!! Dragged one out of the weeds that had been sitting since 97. 2 tires were completely gone, but 2 still had air in them. It does not have a tailgate, so a raccoon family moved in and ate the rear seat! Front driveshaft is bent. Has a very nice rt524 radio mount and wiring...

Need Some Help with Rear Axle Seal "blow out"

That's tough to have to deal with. Sometimes I think half my brain is grey matter with no connections at all. TBI sucks!! I order most everything online and pick up and sometimes get it delivered....I can keep track of what I got going on much easier. Sounds like you put the parts in the...

    PSA for Silicone Brake Fluid

I figured they can use either so I went with the dot 3 since it's very cheap and easy to get. I didn't rebuild anything first just used my pressure tank to push it out! Yes I would rebuild my calipers too, that's cheap and easy as well.

    PSA for Silicone Brake Fluid

That's chunky!! First thing I do when I get one of these is flush it out and put dot 3 in them...then flush them some more every year.

May need some assistance in PA

The guy I got parts from is in Hazelton which is not far at all from where he is...not sure how to get the 2 together. He had a complete rear axle still together...wouldn't take much to get the parts off it. Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk

May need some assistance in PA

Ok I was just up that way last sunday snagging parts off a 1009 that had the rear axle on it still. Not sure how he'd get to him to get the parts though but I'd bet the guy would be pretty cheap. That is a 2 1/2 hour drive from where I am.

    6.2 rebuild help

Can you read anything on the old bearings if there's anything left on them? Sometimes they have some mark on them. IDK I think I'd try another standard set. There's several online military surplus guys that list them for sale pretty cheap. 01-152-4239 I think is the NSN for the set but I'd...

I am in York but have no idea where exit 49 on 78 is....is there a town name or anything? Address where he's at?

    6.2 rebuild help

I gotta ask an extremely basic question...are you sure you are getting parts for a 6.2 and not something else? Possibly boxed wrong parts or looked up wrong, shipped wrong? There's really only one size since they are all so close in standard size.

Fuses? We Don't Need no Stinking Fuses!

That looks like a 30 amp fuse not a 25 so might be out of spec some, like infinity out of spec. My grandmother used to stick pennies under the turn in style fuses at her house when she had a party just so all the lights would stay on all night...I never understood what or why she'd do that...

What do I have, plus converting to 120v. New guy here.

I hit the dewey site and screen shot the specs on this to help find a good inverter plus engine speed specs for load.

    MEP-802/3 Radiators

This is not wrong at all!! The one rad shop we have in town used to rebuild every ounce of a radiator. I had my 1008 huge brass truck rad that I took to them thinking they'd pull the caps and rod it out and make it new again. I was wrong!! all they do is hit it with a pressure washer down the...

What do I have, plus converting to 120v. New guy here.

The batteries they are referring to are only to start it and people wire it into the slave cable socket. Since they are not designed to charge external batteries through the slave cable and only operate the starter, batteries are not needed but for starting only. If you open the side box you...

Wiper blades? My arms are flat, no hook like convention arms

That sounds like a great choice, being up north could use those. What mount do they have on them?
