Need Some Help with Rear Axle Seal "blow out"

I think it was on life support lol I see the part you are refering to. I did clean up most of it today, and found that spring you are refering to. As well as several other parts and springs. I'll post about that in a bit in an update. I wish there was a machine shop around here, I could have...

Need Some Help with Rear Axle Seal "blow out"

Yeah using the other side to 'copy' would be ideal... but I actually do not have enough room in the shop to remove the other side as it is right up against a huge shelf unit. I barely was able to sqeeze the truck in there, and make room to work on fuel tank, and as such could get to the drivers...

Need Some Help with Rear Axle Seal "blow out"

Yeah, I finally found that diagram. Thats where I got some of the part numbers from. Got some of the other part numbers from that same TM on page 297. I'll have to check the vent you mentioned [thumbzup] I think the one peice that is laying on the floor in the 4th photo I posted, the part...

Need Some Help with Rear Axle Seal "blow out"

Hey everyone, working on my 1986 M1008. I just finished putting in a new fuel tank, sending unit, instrument panel flexiable circuit board, and other to finally get my fuel gauge working, as I had in another thread which I will be updating maybe later tonight. CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

Ok, I'm trying to figure out what I will need Thanks for the video ADF [thumbzup] [thumbzup] From what he is saying, or at least from what I understand, my gauge may not be getting any connection to the "signal" wire from the sending unit. As it shows way past full, around the 3 o'clock...

CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

The other thing I can think of besides the fuel gauge and circuit panel is that this new fuel sending unit is bad ☹ I should have tested it before install, as just because parts are new doesn't mean they work.

CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

Thanks for reply, I hooked mine back up that way as there is no 3rd fuel hard line on the truck. So I'm not sure what everyone else seems to refer to there originally being 3 lines + 1 capped off. Truck ran before hooked up this way, should run again the same. I just dont know how the tank is...

CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

Got the tank back on and everything installed, including the new ground wire, reconnected the original sending unit "signal" wire, and installed the new sending unit hoses to the hard lines I had to make a new ground wire as the connector on the old one broke off when I was removing the tank. So...

CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

well... working on truck today, went to change my fuel hoses preparing to begin reinstall..... and here's "something" i ran into... We all know there are 3 ports on civy fuel sending unit, instead of the 4 ports on the military sending units, one of which is capped off as it was only used to...

CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

well now the 2nd strap won't reach. 1st one fit fine on small end of tank. Bo⁰th these straps are the same length, and are the ST01 which I read on other threads was the right part number. also what was listed by summit as being the straps for this Tann. I have beat the lip of the tank in about...

CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

got new sending unit. is this black wire on the sending unit for a water in fuel sensor? if so is the cucv supposed to have this sensor in the tank? As I thought it was in the fuel filter housing. if it's not needed, should I cut it off? zip tie it up? pulled old unit, looks completely...

CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

Yeah after I got the hoses cleaned up, I think they are reusable. I think it was the stripped out clamp that I found later that was allowing it to leak. I wouldn't mind switching to a civy fuel neck and hose, but I'll have to let that go for now. I got the rivets drilled out and 1/4" - 20...

CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

here's a question... how do you reattach the new straps to the frame brackets? these have large rivets. I have rivots, but nothing that big. Nor do I have a rivet gun that would accept that large of rivits. think 1/4 bolts would work? They fit the holes on the new straps perfectly. but the...

CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

I just took apart the filler neck and the filler and vent hoses and cleaned them up a bit. On the filler neck hose clamp that held it on the filler neck, I found the screw was stipped out. So thats probably where it was leaking, as the hoses look good no cracks or etc. So I may just finish...

CUCV M1009: Is it 3 OR 4 Outlets for Fuel Tank Sending Unit??

ok, finished getting the tank down today. doesn't look to bad actually other than being filthy. I havent pulled the sending unit too look inside, but through the fill port it actually looks fairly clean. In any case, apparently someone has been in here before, as this sending unit is only a...
