Welcome. I am also in Utah, Roy up by Ogden. I have a HEMTT and it is fun to drive and the crane on the back is more useful than I ever thought. There are a couple of Utah MV pages on FB if you are there too. You may want to join them for local stuff.
The drive configuration is a bit odd on HEMTTs. Standard is only the #4 axle powered. With Interlock you should power both #3 and #4 but it also interlocks the #1 and #2 axles even though the transfer case is not supplying power. In 8X8 you are actually only 4X4 as interlocks are not engaged so...
I pull my M1082 with my HEMTT. I got it to replace 2 M105s that I couldn't see behind the HEMTT and were very difficult to back with it. The M1082 is great, easy to back up and I can see it when rolling even if I can't feel it. Has anyone found a source for the sway bar bushings? I need the ones...
Gman, welcome to the HEMTT club which is a small one. I have an M985 cargo and enjoy it. I use it for car shows and charity events. Funny thing is it cost me more to pay the annual registration here in Utah than I pay for insurance. Have fun and can't wait to see picture.
As I read in the OP he said "Confiscate." Now that to me is very different than "Buy Back" or "Request Return." Can they confiscate? Oh He77 yes they can as Federal and State agencies do it all the time. (i.e. police confiscating large sums of legal cash and you have to file in court to get it...
Sold my 2 M105A2s and an M101/116A3. Didn't have a use for the M105s anymore as they are tough if not impossible to back up with a HEMTT and had an extra M101/116A3. Now all I have is my M1082 for the HEMTT and an M101/116A3 for my F150.
The trans lines will have trans oil in them. I would disconnect them first and use catch pans then find some plastic caps to put on them to keep anything from getting in there. As for removing the radiator a crane is the easiest way if you have access to any or another M977/985 works well as...
I hope it comes back to bite them in the rear. If I want one of something the surplus store was my source. Now I'll have to buy 100 at retail? Nope, not happening.
I haven't seen any real aviation or vehicle parts like used to be on GL. Also, all opening bids have gone up and most of us that used to buy for personal use are priced out of the Mil Surplus market. I wonder what is going to happen to the surplus stores in the future if they are unable to get...
I have a pole I put in the end of the crane on my HEMTT and fly a 5'8"X8' flag from it. I have a larger flag to but need a longer pole if I am going to fly it.
If just one of the batteries is shorted inside or really bad your attempt to charge will not work an proper testing of batteries needs to be done with them unhooked to get true readings on the battery tested. But hey, do as you wish and continue to have problems and wondering why you can't solve...
