Well, I went and did it over the weekend. I bought a 1962 M37B1 from a fellow SS member here in West Virginia. I’ve been hankering for a new MV for a long time, and when this one showed up on Craig’s List, it looked like just the ticket! It currently runs and drives, but doesn’t stop. It has...
Welp, unfortunately, the MB was much worse in person than it looked in photos. The frame and running gear were very crusty, the body was chock full of rot, it had been heavily civilianized, the wiring was hacked, and somebody cut the back off of the M-38 arctic top and installed a plexiglass...
That sounds like a nicely butchered M38! I'll check the hat channels to see how bad they are.
Good to know. Thanks!
I did some looking on MB arctic tops and the photos I found on the interwebs look a lot like this one. That would be a good find.
Yeah, LOL, it's a sweet hood. Nothing I...
Thanks! Exactly what I was thinking!
Thanks for the tip on the trans ID. I like the sounds of your CJ2A!
[cough, cough] Forgot to share pics. Please forgive me! 😁 Like I said, they’re crappy. Here’s the best two:
I have always loved Rick Pewe’s flatty. From the crappy pictures I’ve seen of this MB, it definitely has a good patina already. A VW TDI would be cool in a flatty too.
Good to know on the 4.3L! If the frame is good, then I’ll see how low she’ll go on price.
Thanks. I’ll give it a close inspection and let you know what I find. If it’s really bad, then I may just throw $500 at the seller and see what she says.
Thanks! The photos in the ad aren’t much to go on, so I will inspect it in person today or tomorrow. I’m not sure if they swapped out the tranny when they changed the engine. I’ll check it in person because the seller inherited the jeep and really doesn’t know anything about it.
Thanks! I’ll...
Hey guys. I’m looking at a crusty, rusty, ugly 1945 MB. I mean, it’s hideous, but it’s a Willys MB! Someone has definitely done some mods to this truck over the years. Some of the obvious changes are a hard top/doors, turn signals on the fenders, multiple coats of paint, and a home built rear...
Nice. Didn't know there were any SS guys in Charleston. We should get together sometime.
You could easily put a pintle on an H1 since the airlift bumpers are the same, but the receiver hitch uses the pintle bolt holes to attach a support bracket. I thought about buying a pintle extension like...
Thanks! It is more nose-down than I would like too. The H1's only have a receiver hitch, no pintle, so I am using a receiver/pintle mount. It sits a little lower than the pintle mount on the airlift bumper would sit. My H1 has the same 37" MT's as the HMMWV. I remember the trailer riding a...
I took the M1101 out for its first proper tow behind my new H1. It had been sitting around collecting leaves since I sold my HMMWV. Shockingly, one of the tires had gone flat, but I was able to use my handy dandy CTIS compressor to air it back up. The only other issue was the pivot on the stiff...
