Down the Rabbit Hole! My Chronicles of Buying a Surplus M1152A1. One Place For All Who Want to Know.

Installed the CDR today. Found that the intake pipe where the CDR hose connects had some oil in. I sure hope this isn't a bad sign. Pressure washed the truck today... WOW the amount of dust and sand on this truck is amazon. Looks like a beach on my driveway. There is a hose dangling under...

    Installing new radiator core

I never tried to re-core but I did try to repair a hose fitting. It not easy as the tanks need to be very clean for the solder to work. The radiator shops have vats of acid used to clean the tanks... this make the solder work better. One of the reason the shops charge so much... environment...

Down the Rabbit Hole! My Chronicles of Buying a Surplus M1152A1. One Place For All Who Want to Know.

I have tracked down 2 leaks that I want to see if I can fix. The is stuff in the way thought. First is the A/C duct/hose (not sure what to call it) that supplies air to the driver's knee vent. I believe the diesel leak is on the hose/clamp/line the comes from the fuel filter. I would like to...

PCB, EESS, 3S, TSU, GPC... Try to figuer them out.

I am not too sure how to take this. First you say you would be more than happy to help then go on then say you have no intentions of helping. Not too sure why you need to say this. I know this engine family very well, Own many in the past and have been working on them for decades... and I...

PCB, EESS, 3S, TSU, GPC... Try to figuer them out.

Well the number of flashes seem to be a code. I am willing to bet we can figure it our here. A lot of these threads I read seem to needlessly replace items. So far we have 1 4 and 7 flashes. I need to sit down and read all the stuff above to see of there is any more clues. It did state one...

PCB, EESS, 3S, TSU, GPC... Try to figuer them out.

I will have to check my grounds. More and more I think about this I am convinced the box looks for what the voltage is at power up. A bad ground would cause a voltage drop and thus no joy. Maybe the 7 flashes is a under volt code? Wouldn't this be awesome to know!

PCB, EESS, 3S, TSU, GPC... Try to figuer them out.

Good information and this makes me think there is more to these boxes. When I flip the switch the wait light starts to flash. I wonder if the box needs to see the full voltage when it is powered up and before starting. I know the voltage will drop when the starter and glow plugs are on. Maybe...

PCB, EESS, 3S, TSU, GPC... Try to figuer them out.

Well the 7 flashes of the wait light. Is this a diagnostic code? if it is for what? I haven't found that posted here. I may have missed it. I have looked through the forum and seen people talk about one flash. From what I read in the above documents this is a lamp test. this makes since. I...

PCB, EESS, 3S, TSU, GPC... Try to figuer them out.

The stuff I attached tells me what is inside the boxes. I have not been able to find that anywhere. Also I am shocked that no one here knows how the boxes work. This place is wealth of knowledge and thought this would be a good place to ask. You sure can test the glow plug with a test light...

Thanks for the input! It just I am not one to load up the parts cannon and start shooting. In my limited years of troubleshooting I just don't find the parts cannon all that effective. I want to know how to tell what part is bad. Once I get an understanding of how the system works then I can...
