LITD is correct that the fitting on the outer gen enclosure is 1/2" NPT.
The confusion might be due to a couple factors, the holes in the engine itself are 3/8" NPT threads and the 002/003 series machines are 3/4" NPT threads.
Now, to add to the confusion... EVERY trailer mounted 802 and 803 I...
Will the contactor function if you push up on the switch and hold it up? Or will it not work at all?
Also, are you verifying the contactor functioning by checking for power output at the lugs or looking for the green light to illuminate?
I'm not sure what you mean above by "contactor held open"
I'm having a little bit of difficulty following you, perhaps due to the lack of punctuation etc., but regardless, have you tested the contactor itself to verify it works before going any further with testing the wiring?
I'm not following exactly how you are testing, but the contactor circuit...
When it comes to degreasing anything.... Hot water / steam ( even relatively low pressure ) will do 10X better than the strongest high pressure washer using cold water and any cleaner you can throw at it. I use an electric steam cleaner that probably only produces 1500 psi and really don't need...
Jeeze, can't believe still no smoking gun! as C.B mentioned, make sure the lever arm is moving freely and no slop anywhere.
In it's current state the cover on the flyball assembly should be free to move smoothly in and out and should rotate smoothly.
( Although in operation the cover is held...
Do you happen to have an air hammer? I would also try hitting the puller bolt ( while tightened ) and / or the blower wheel hub with an air hammer and a blunt chisel.
I've found that vibration can help loosen frozen parts better than brute force sometimes.
Jeeze, you're doing it right, but you seem to have a real stubborn one! I've never needed to add any heat and do it a similar way.
Only difference is I made a small block of 1/2" tool steel with a 1/2" fine thread hole in the center and 2 holes for the grade 8 bolts, but otherwise same concept...
Here in RI we also got heavy rains and strong winds with some extended outages. I was pretty lucky and only lost power for a few hours, but barely noticed thanks to my MEP's.
I had a couple past customers call me over the last couple days saying how impressed they were with their machine's...
I started up an 002 tonight and did the same thing as in your video.
My governor is much, much faster to react when I both increase or decrease the throttle and the reaction is far more forceful than what I see in your video.
If I rev it up a little, it takes less than 1/2 a second for the...
Agreed on all facets... Its back to vibrating excessively ( not due to excessive RPM ).... the governor seems very slow to react and the engine also seems a little slow to respond to changes in throttle position as well.
The other thing to note is that I assume you still have the throttle lever...
Essentially the same test results, just published by Optilube and not the actual independent test lab report by the looks.
It sounds like the Optilube will pay for itself in fuel savings.... ;) but as you can see they also list the price / 26Gl tank that the others would cost and there are...
There's dozens of other additives available, but another SS member had once posted the results of an independent test that showed the Optilube had the highest lubricity of treated fuel, where as adding Marvel mystery oil to it actually decreased lubricity somehow!
I would be nice to find that...
Very informative video.
It seems like now the throttle isn't bouncing all over the place like before, but for some reason the throttle is very slow to react.
The other issue I see is that the Governor arm is not attempting to increase fuel flow when you push the lever down.
Please do another...
Side note... running on Kero, or any of the JP / JET options will likely result in a smoother running, easier starting ( especially in cold weather ) generator, but theoretically you should expect a slight decrease in KW output.
Kero has less BTU's / Gl than #2 diesel and #2 HHO, therefore you...
The injectors can be disassembled and cleaned. One test would be to remove the injectors and turn the hard lines off to the side and reattach the injectors.
Crank the motor and look at the spray patterns. there should be 4 fine sprays coming out radially from the tip of the injector.
If it isn't...
Only a leak in the injector pintle / nozzle itself can cause fuel to drip into the cylinder when shut down.
It may not cause any noticeable issue while running after heated up, but definitely isn't the best scenario for your engine.
A leak at the copper washer would cause a very slight loss of...
Yup, There still some out there, but typically $50 is the cheapest you'll find retail.
Occasionally a deal will come around, but deals don't last long, so jump when you see one!
