I'd agree with LITD that you could have a slight leak in 1 of the injectors or possibly also could be a leak in one of the metering pumps allowing a little fuel to drain back creating an air pocket in the injector line.
This can cause the "Good" cylinder to struggle a little and smoke until...
Yup, I had done a lot of research a while ago looking for alternate PN's and unfortunately I did not find anything that was readily available that was comparable as a drop in replacement to the OEM glow plugs.
The Champion 182 CH42 are correct but discontinued. I found a listing for like $15...
I suppose you probably can't go simply by the HP rating. I don't have any experience that that machine, but I believe it uses an inverter for the AC so it may not run at 1800 RPM when under a light load?? hopefully??
Maybe someone else can comment on how the engine throttles up based on load...
See the brass strip vertically near the bottom right corner of the terminal lug board, that strip is bonding neutral to ground in that picture.
Remove that bar to separate neutral and ground.
My understanding has always been that when connecting a generator ( or a sub panel ) to your main panel...
I just did a head gasket on a 005 2 weeks ago. I had the gasket kit sitting around for well over a year, but if I recall, I got it on ebay.
Mine was seeping a little coolant out of the Exhaust side of the head gasket.
The more I think about this issue, the more I think there's an issue internal to the governor assembly.
To increase engine speed, the throttle cable pulls on the lever ( #15) which increase tension on the spring ( #11 )
The more spring tension, the harder it is for the governor flyweights to...
Here's a link to the thread I was thinking about. It explains the purpose of that pin as far as holding the governor flyball housing from rotating.
If the cover rotates, it won't push out properly as RPM's rise and therefore will not press down on the Governor linkage properly...
Looking at the -24P TM, the 002/003's oil pressure relief valve looks to be at the "end of the line", oil flow wise.
Therefore, even if for some reason it was stuck open, I would not expect it to result in NO oil flow/pressure because the bearings , passages etc. will inherently provide some...
Agree with Tinstar, that hose is only a 1/4" ID and even smaller at the fittings, they can easily get clogged being a dead-ended line.
You could crack one of the oil cooler hoses or even loosen the drain plug on the filter housing and start the engine briefly, checking for oil pressure before...
Search around here more, there was recently a post where a member had catastrophic engine failure due to that pin coming out and falling into the timing gears. I believe he ended up repairing things and threaded the hole in his replacement cover and made a new pin that was threaded on the end...
Your best friend when it comes to finding parts is the -24P manual. Find the PN you are in need of and do a google search, some things will come up available from all different places including right from Cummins as well as many engine / generator repair shops etc.
Note: try searching using both...
Is the metering pump giving you trouble even after it is clamped down, or is the hold down clamp loose?
If the cam lobe is pushing up on the pump at all, the lever on the metering pump will hit on the underside of the engine block casting and jam up the rack.
if the clamp is totally loose, try...
C.B is correct. That's what I'm talking about. The other thing that bothers me is the bouncing up and down of the throttle lever / Governor arm as well as the fact that the governor arm is not attempting to lower the throttle arm despite the RPM's climbing higher and higher.
The higher the...
So the biggest "problem" I see is that the lever that the throttle cable and governor spring attach to are definitely all the way back in the "Idle" position, therefore the engine should currently be running at minimum RPM, ( less than 55 Hz. ) not wide open throttle like it is.
Since this...
If you can't get it flared, the parts store will have an array of adapters that you can use to allow you to clamp onto both the black iron and exhaust tube.
Or weld (or have welded...) a short piece of 1 1/4" threaded black iron into the tube, then use a threaded black iron union to hook the 2...
Just go to your local auto parts store and buy 10' lengths of exhaust tube. Any 1/2-way decent store can order it quickly.
O'riley's here in RI has in in their warehouse and can get it same day.
You can also order it on line from places like Summit Racing and Jegs performance.
Can get aluminized...
When you take pics of the governor and throttle cable, also get a picture of the arm that the cable attaches to relative to the bracket it's mounted to.
That arm should be essentially 90* straight out , perpendicular to the centerline of the engine block.
Also try to get a picture of where the...
To me it looks like the governor attempts to lower the engine speed just after startup ( right when the linkage goes from full up to about 1 1/2" space between the solenoid and the linkage.
The governor for some reason seems to have no effect on engine speed.
Can you manually lower the RPM with...
