Advice needed - new guy with MEP004A

Soapy water. I use regular kitchen soap mixed with water. Throw it on a wasp or hornet nest and they die just as fast as using an $8 can of spray. The soap clogs up the breathing holes on their thorax and they suffocate in less than a minute or so. You can also load the soapy water into one...

No, this goes on aa long as it's warm / hot weather. Remember the one that clogged up my fuel inlet hose? Same type bug but that was in October if I remember right. May have even been early November. Well, its 85F and 75% humidity out there right now. Miserable as hell. Summer is back.

Advice needed - new guy with MEP004A

Speaking of bugs that fly around looking for holes to lay an egg in... I took the mower apart Sunday night. My parts came in today. Shortly after noon today I went out the to put the mower back together and low and behold, one of those stupid bugs laid an egg and plugged up the hole with mud...

Well, I got PLENTY of spiders too. Especially in my shop. The only thing I've found that keeps the spiders out of my shop is bug bombs that have spiders listed on the box. I killed 2 black widows in there (that I know of) and that's what made me go looking for the bug bombs that kill spiders...

Yep - and as said, it works pretty damn well.

Yes, I will have mine programmed to "exercise" on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule so that's gonna happen... BUT North Carolina is not south Louisiana. We got more bugs here than you can shake a stick at. I've already had to knock out 3 wasp nests just this weekend. One on a 6 ft step ladder...

Advice needed - new guy with MEP004A

Added some wire mesh to the air intake grill last night. The existing stuff is 1/2" square gaps which is too big for around here. Wasps and dirt dobbers wouldn't even be slowed down by that. I used 1/4" mesh on top of the factory 1/2" stuff. Not sure that's small enough to keep all of them...

Yeah, my blaster maxes out at 125 psi (safety valve) and I'm feeding it with 3/8* hose. The compressor keeps up with constant blasting but I never looked to see what pressure it's maintaining. Guessing it keeps it very close to 125 psi since it only runs 3-4 minutes out of every 15 or so of...

Advice needed - new guy with MEP004A

Apparently, the guy who helped me by taking some of the pieces to his work has several blasters available there. 2 are cabinets that are big enough to get these pieces in and one is a "room" that has some kind of conveyor / auto-feed system that recycles the media. I think they are using...

Not much to report except that the sandblasting is ALL done and all parts are either primed and painted of at least primed. Still working on the control wiring too.

Lot of wires - and more to go.

Might stop here for the evening. Back is screaming! Need to update the CAD drawing for the wiring diagram - "No good plan survives first contact with the enemy" - made some changes on the fly.

Yes, the one for the radiator cover and one of the control panel "latches" were missing in action on this one. Hopefully I won't be running 24/7/365. Doubt I could afford to buy the diesel these days. I don't drive my truck much these days compared to what I used to do but I filled up with...

Advice needed - new guy with MEP004A

I got new ones and I tried to mount them last night but I need a better rivet gun. Got one on the way. Plan to use the same gizmo on the radiator cap door. Not sure these are any better but there just ain't a lot of choices out there for this kind of stuff.

Advice needed - new guy with MEP004A

Like you, I hope it runs and makes power dependably. Lot of damn work... Only been at it for a couple hours today and my back is already killing me from leaning over this thing on the bench. Had to relocate the endpoints for the lanyards that keep the control panel from falling all the way...

Advice needed - new guy with MEP004A

Started on the battery cables. Can't finish them until I go buy2 new batteries. Been using one out of my marsh boat and one out of my tractor up till now but they are both wrong size or wrong posts for this thing. Putting off battery purchase as long as possible. My control panel arrived...

Oh, I'm sure I've got it to some degree but not that bad.
