Can't get the engine to idle

Any plans for future MV purchases or you done with MV's all together?

FREE - used motor oil and diesel fuel

Wmo is more than desirable especially when diesel prices are high. Only thing one needs to really do is filter the oil and they can run their multi-fuel on it, though it runs a bit better if mixed with diesel or gas. Only waste fluid others desire more so would be transmission fluid...

    M109 rotted floor

That's a good thing! Honestly, I didn't even know there were separate wheel well plates. Learn something new all the time! Lol

FREE - used motor oil and diesel fuel

If I was a wee bit closer, I'd take it, but a thirty hour drive is a bit too long for me 🤣. That said, I always check Facebook marketplace for free oil and such and that's how I find it. Sometimes by word of mouth too. Give it a few days and see what happens. I know there are some fellas down...

    M109 rotted floor

If you just plan on to use wood, I would still consider using some sheets of steel over the tires. The tires will throw dirt at it acting like a sand blaster which could speed up the rot process in any wood. Could even do the whole thing if you found some steel or even aluminum cheap enough from...

MV of the Month August 2022

It's the 13th now and we have one entry...come on people, there was sixty people who voted last month and some were definitely some steep competition, we should easily have five to eight entries....at least Chucky was excited to enter!

    non-stretch recovery rope?

There's things to consider when using a recovery strap. Age, condition, and the method of storage. With anything, you can find the biggest, baddest recovery apparatus out there, but it costs $$. Chains work if they are more or rated higher than you can expect to put on to it, if those break...

    non-stretch recovery rope?

No offense, but I will beg to differ. Depending on how that chain is tugged on, it can break in multiple spots, sending some length of chain flying in the distance. I've seen it happen to my dad with a logging chain pulling out a stump with Chevy pick up. This especially true for chain types...

Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2022 - July VOTE HERE! RUNOFF

This Thursday our local ice cream shop is having a special, buy two large shakes, get one free, so I'm gonna take advantage of that!

Engine repair or swap to LDS?

At least that's good to know only one piston failed to be in spec. Hopefully no other surprises are found upon further inspection.

Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2022 - July VOTE HERE! RUNOFF

Thanks fellas! I have to admit, I didn't expect to win at all, if anything, just having fun. My kids will be excited to see that our truck won so it'll be their reaction that I'm looking forward too!

Too broke for Sturgis Bike and Car Show

I'll be honest, even if I was not a MV owner, I'd still care less about a Corvette, especially a new one, but I'd be looking at a few bikes and most of all, I'd be all up in that grill of Big Bertha!

Hercules LDT-465 - significant amount of diesel in oil even after FDC bypass

There should be a marking on a tooth that needs to be in line. You can search for "IP replacement; Injection Pump replacement; swapping out injection pump in M35A2, ect, either in the search bar above, or on Google and then type steel soldiers after it and you will have a list of threads you can...

Welcome to the site. Now you have to try to make it to a steel soldiers rally. It's nice to put a face to the name, but also, from my experience so far, an awesome group of people, the green iron family! Lol Congrats on the new to you humvee! They are definitely awesome vehicles and holy crap...

    Rear axle seal leak

My uncle who's been a life long mechanic has done similar, but he would use a torch on a low setting and keep the shoes around a certain temperature. I was young and didn't ask the right questions, but I remember something along the lines of "drying them out" lol.

    Master Cylinder Replacement

It's amazing what we will find on some of these trucks, what the motor pool guys did to quickly fix things, the stuff we don't even know what the previous owner was thinking type of fixes, ect, lol. In my old deuce, the shop I bought my truck from, they used wrapped the lower radiator hose in...

    Deuce steering wheel

The outer material definitely seems to be some type of plastic, but there is a steel core in the center that the plastic is molded around.

    Deuce steering wheel

Thanks. I do that too, I just barely leave my palms on the wheel when I let it go to straighten back out. It's amazing how many "to do" jobs there can be on a new to you deuce, or any MV, isn't it? Lol

Engine repair or swap to LDS?

My question is, are the cracks in the pistons related to heat, age, or both? At what point does a cracked piston head dictate replacement? As far as sleeves, I'd only replace those if they are scored by the rings, if no scoring, re-use them. Unless you're getting a deal on a piston/sleeve...
