What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

So was looking under hood after checking engine oil and noticed a few grains of white stuff under the battery hold down plate. I instantly knew what that was and took it off to clean it. Corrosion has worked it way under the rubber coating quite a bit. Cleaned as best I could and banging it...

How much difference does new shocks make?

New shocks made a big difference on both of mine. Smoothed out the ride and made tow even better. I run 35-45psi for different loads and 65psi for heavy stuff. Definitely can’t hurt.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Replaced front wheel bearings today. Left front back bearing possibly had some water inside at some point but looks more like condensation buildup to me. Not sure. Was definitely making noise going down the road Rest of them looked good Now my oil cooler lines are leaking. On to that project.

You don’t have to declare it surplus and start the surplus declaration for it with your municipality so they can include it in their auction?

    rope fasteners for 101

Yes One bigger knot using the two ends instead of two small individual knots. Works great.

    rope fasteners for 101

Just cut rope to length desired Then insert both ends through the cover eyelet and tie a knot. You can adjust the tension as required by moving the knot. Beat part is they work just as well in the winter as they do in the summer. Bought the 100’ roll from McMaster-Carr

    rope fasteners for 101

I used the new EPDM rubber rope and makes life so much easier. Simply pull loop down to fasten to trailer. Takes me <30 seconds to get into trailer. No loose rope No knots Super easy.

They definitely don’t make chairs like they used to. Chair is from the 1950’s and it did bend a bit, Really strong chair. Made a heck of a racket. Had to Jack truck up to get it out. I parked in the shade in a spot I normally don’t park. Went to move truck later and wham! I’m still...

Damaged it. Never put a chair in front of a vehicle and walk away while on the phone, only to come back a few hours later and forget about it. Chair faired pretty well. CUCV now has a small outward dent under side turn light. Talk about feeling really stupid.

    tree vs. cucv m1008

As mentioned, a frame swap will save the day. It’s part of the family and can’t go without at least trying to save it. If anything happened to mine, I would try everything to save it. If that wasn’t possible, then a quiet resting place on the ranch would do.
