    "ZOUT"

Condolences to his family. I am sad to see another good man and long time member of this community pass on. He will certainly be missed.

    Guess this comm system

Good call, I missed it earlier. I think the mount is a MT-1898 for the R-422A.

    Guess this comm system

Sure looks like a RT-524 to me. With just a single RT-524 I think the configuration would be a VRC-46, which is still in the VRC-12 family of radios. @DavidB, if it’s not an RT-524, what is it?

Katrina Deuce Story - MUST READ

I found my way back here after someone mentioned John “Sarge” in another thread and realized his Katrina story is getting hard to find. The Lonestar MVPA site appears to be dead as of September 2024, and although there are many mentions of John’s heroic deeds all across the Internet (rightly...

What have you done to your JEEP today

Flat fender Jeeps are the original side by side! I don’t really work it hard, but do I use it like a side by side sometimes. Hauling tools to where I’m working, I’ve used the winch to tension trees I’m cutting down, towed other vehicles or trailers. Really only light duty stuff. I’m sitting in...

What have you done to your JEEP today

I realized I haven‘t towed one of my M416s with a Jeep to this point so I hitched it up and drove it around. It towed nice behind the M38.

    While i've been away..

The CF-55-AF in your post is parked at the Combat Air Museum in Topeka, KS. I was there this week, great museum. I recommend a visit for any aviation or military history enthusiast.

    Willys from CO to KS

My dad had a 40’ flatbed decked with diamond plate steel. I never thought it was too slippery in the rain, especially after years of use and some surface rust on it. I debated putting diamond plate or expanded steel on my trailer, but it's a 7k lb light duty car hauler and I don't have a lot of...

    Willys from CO to KS

That would’ve worked, thanks for reaching out. However, I ended up getting it shipped yesterday. What type of wood are you using for your deck? I need to replace the deck on my trailer, I’m debating just using PT wood from my local HD vs hunting down an oak supplier.

Re-painting New Wheels That Already Have a Factory Finish

I got a set of new steel wheels for my M38, and they all already have a new factory glossy gray paint finish. How does everyone get the factory paint to a point where they can apply their own finish? I am looking for an efficient and effective method to scuff the paint to a point where I can...

M113 variant. .. flamethrower or what?

The M132 was an armored flamethrower variant of the M113, but it had a very small turret. Smaller than how it appears in this photo. Could this be a M163 VADS under the cover? The turret profile looks similar, especially in the rear.

    Sourcing M35 Cargo Cover Kit

SECO prices are sometimes high, they primarily deal with commercial customers, but they’re good people. I went to their place in Augusta, GA more than a couple of times. They were always fair, and good to work with. Picking parts in their yard was a lot of fun. I wouldn‘t hesitate to buy from them.

    Sourcing M35 Cargo Cover Kit

I found camping in the back of my deuce to be pretty comfortable in fair to cool weather. I didn’t enjoy it in hot weather, a fan is a must at a minimum to move air through the bed. I used a standard military cot in the back and used a parachute on the inside of my vinyl cover as kind of a tent...

PS Magazines: View Online, soon, I hope!

Sad that the Army doesn't see any value in PS magazine. Probably some bean-counters couldn't quantify the contributions of PS magazine over 73 years in a way that the decision-maker could understand it. I can think of more than a dozen DA civilians right now we could cut with zero impact to...

M813 battery cranking amps and wiring

6TLs rather than group 31s on a military truck? Because 6TLs are standard military tactical vehicle batteries. Every wheeled and tracked tactical vehicle is set up to use the standardized battery. For example, imagine if the Army, with tens of thousands of tactical vehicles and hundreds of...
