B-29 "Doc" Awarded New Airworthiness Certificate

There are currently two airworthy B-24s; an A model Diamond Lil and a J model Witchcraft. Two others are currently undergoing restoration to be airworthy again. There are also two PB4Y-2 Privateers currently airworthy. They aren't technically the same as a B-24, but the PB4Y-2 was derived from...

    Orange 6TLs????

Optima clearly isn't Hawker, but NDT made a comment about AGM chargers in general. If there is a better AGM charger out there that could help these newer garbage optimas I'd like to know about it. My father kept an old optima red top going for 15 years, but you're lucky to get three out of the...

    Orange 6TLs????

What chargers are recovering AGMs without fail? I've been through several optimas that even an AGM charger can't restore.

    Random items found in HMMWV

Lieutenant Colonel insignia that was there so long it was promoted? There's no bird in LTC insignia. If there was a bird your meant Colonel.

    forum violation

Lighten up mac. Asking English speaking members of this forum to also write in English certainly isn't out of line. How can you expect fellow English speakers to read your posts when you don't follow rules that bind our common written language together? Your desire for forum members to decrypt...

    JWADE moving on

That's a shame. GP built some credibility with Jwades presence here. Too bad they aren't interested in keeping it. I suppose they figured it didn't pay off

New to M35A3, Critique this Bobber

Looks nice, the owner certainly did some good work to it. But I'm not sure about $15k. Seems high, but if it's worth it to you then why not! I've only owned M35A3's that belonged to Uncle, so I don't know if removing the rear axle increases speed, but 60mph seems high. I'll bet that Cat is...

    Radios for M1009

We had SINCGARS in a few CUCVs in 1996-1999. VRC-88, 89, 90, 91 or 92 would all be correct. However, I'm sure you'll have much better luck finding a VRC-12 series radio.

    Euc approved!

I've had an EUC for a trailer pending since early December. Edited to add: 8 December exactly. I've been waiting for an EUC for a trailer since 8 December '16

    Value Needed 56-58 M38

M38 Jeeps were only made from 1950-1952. If it's a '56 it isn't a M38. As stated above the tub and dash panel certainly are not correct. Looks like a CJ-3a made into a faux M38. Steering and suspension dont look right for either an M38 or a CJ-3a. However, 6k isn't too bad for a mechanically and...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Looks good! Taking care of little bits of rust as they form is excellent PM. Wish I had time to do that kind of detail work. Great work preserving that old iron!

    unknown military gear.

That's a M1961 Field Pack. The M1961 was a slightly improved version of the earlier M1956 Field Pack. The M1961 was Vietnam era but I saw them serving into the late '90s.

New 6x6 owner in central Kansas

Welcome from Leavenworth, KS. That data plate says manufactured in 1952. Sure is a very early M44. I'd also guess it's a hacked up V-17. If it was an original M756 they wouldn't have had to fabricate a bed and headache rack. The winch and location looks original and I'm not aware of another...

    Need a small airforce?

Anyone want to purchase a small airforce? I suppose we could all chip in and put together a steelsoldiers airforce, all for the token sum of about $200k. Perhaps we could convince a couple of members to restore the aircraft in their garages on the cheap too. But then we might need a bigger rally...

    Large wire crimping

This is the tool I was referring to. It's self contained, no other pump required. It'll crimp your terminals with ease. http://m.harborfreight.com/hydraulic-wire-crimping-tool-66150.html Before I got this I used a vise, but I was rebuilding some battery cables and decided I wanted a cleaner...

    Large wire crimping

The hydraulic crimper from harbor freight isn't too expensive and it works great. I usually solder and crimp my big terminals.
