Is this 6.5 a lost cause?

It hasn't been cranked over by me but who knows if the govplanet guys tried. I'll see what the cylinders look like. You guys are bringing me back to reality it's most likely toast. Don't really have anything to loose but time messing with it. I'm unlikely to put the dollars into rebuilding...

Is this 6.5 a lost cause?

I'm wrenching on a 2003 M1123 which sat at Yermo without an air horn. I pulled the intake which was more full of sand then I thought possible. I'm now thinking that although the unit had a hood in the auction pics, govplanet did that and it must've sat for years with the intake exposed and the...

Does this portal gear look new? worn?

I bought another non-running 2003 M1123 out of yermo. While pressure washing I found a portal hub missing the top plug (the one that covers the bolt to the axle) and oops! I had just blasted a bunch of sand/water inside. I pulled the cover plate, cleaned it out, and refilled with fresh oil...

Thoughts on Injection pump rebuilders or remanufactures?

Feels to me like the injection pump is the common, expensive, major component that requires replacement in reviving a hmmwv that's been in storage for a long time. I don't know if they're just the weakest link? Or maybe just the most expensive part that suffers the most from sitting without...

    Current EUC Wait Time

29 days won an M1123 out of yermo on 2/9/22, submitted EUC 2/14/22, & was approved 3/15/22

    STE/ICE Delete

I've done it and have been pleased with the results. Nothing depends on it for the hmmwv to operate. I would even argue it's more robust and reliable without it as the power it always has in it could introduce a current draw, battery drain, location to short, if damaged...

Black Substance on Battery Terminals Between Frame and Tunnel

I share your experience. I have no idea what the gunk is, or if we have the same gunk, but I used MEK on mine and it cleanup up nice. I wonder if brake clean would dis-solve it? but that's unobtainiun around me lately.

    pulling trigger on hard doors

I don't know about the new MME offering but the cobratek doors are 1/4" thick aluminum. So are the plan B doors. That's like 10x thicker then the aluminum skin of the hmmwv. not easily dented. At least far less easily dented then the HMMWV body itself. I've used the plan B doors for years...

    pulling trigger on hard doors

I've been looking at the Cobra Tek 'convertible' doors as i like the option of running full or half doors depending on the weather/season. But I don't have first hand experience of them https://www.cobratek.com/humvee-doors -0- I own a set of Plan B doors. (the older/simpler doors, not the...

M1123 - Ragged armor holes on top of rear fenders

If you are crazy like me and enjoy tig welding: 1-drill out with a step bit so you have perfect round hole 2-gently use a clean & strip disc on a grinder to disappear the paint nearby (clean both sides, wear a mask) 3-punch or hole-saw an aluminum plug to fill the hole. I like 10 guage 5052 for...

    easy/feasible to delete ste/ice-r???

A picture that says it all. No extra hole in the plans, I'll gut the connector by the shifter and repurpose it to contain USB power jacks. Will be stealthy and the retained cap will keep it pressure washer friendly. Camo, thanks, yes I already found/did your guage mod. It's actually what...

    easy/feasible to delete ste/ice-r???

Hi. I'm wondering if the ste/ice-r system is a standalone wiring harness that could be easily removed? To me the system is just a bunch of added complexity that I don't need. I'll never have the equipment to use. it If it were simple to ditch, I'd much rather it go away. Like the stupid...

    "D/F" painted over hoods.

I bought a M1123 out of yermo with the D/F and X. I found some paperwork in it from a corporal who served at Camp Pendleton at the time it was sent to yermo that suggested to me the D/F meant "Doesn't Function" On mine, somebody had crushed "NJP" into the fins of the ac condenser. I looked...
