My A1 will slightly raise idle when cold and idling on its own. But it waivers and never really reaches a high idle. However, if I use the rocker switch in the cab, it idles right up.
I replaced both suction and return lines this morning. NAPA had the Gates field assembled -6 JIC fittings and the hose. Total cost was about $120. The fittings take about 3 minutes per to assemble with an impact driver 13/16” deep well socket.
I also replaced my primary fuel/water assembly as...
Hey all…. Does anyone have the answer? I’d like to get my suction line replaced and need the length if anyone has it handy. I did search and came up with nothing useful.

Just from looking at it I’d say you’d have no problem with a 9k winch. If you double line winch I’d maybe go back to the truck frame. It’s probably one of the best places on the truck to pull from excluding the frame itself.
Others will have better pointers, but I had a guy I talked with prior to driving my truck home who could load it on a flatbed. So if I had a problem I couldn’t overcome I’d just call for a ride.
So that pin at the top has two O rings internally on each end of the cap. They were in pretty bad shape on mine.
Yes, that is a hose clamp holding the top in place. It worked for a month (with a tack weld) until I could get another bag.
So from what I can tell there is four leakage points to look at if you have air escaping from an air shock. There are the two o rings on the cross pin up top. The bag itself is one, and then the O ring on the bottom here.
Mine was leaking at the bottom, once replaced it was all set.
This is the top end of the bag with the destroyed bushing material. You can see where I errantly cut the band off the top. Foolish move…..
I had some round stock from a project, so I turned out a set of bushings.
Whatever you do don’t cut the band! I did that on my first one before I understood how they come apart.
once that cross pin is removed the unit can be separated into two major assemblies. The shock, and the bag.
The bag assembly has a steel ring at the bottom that slips into the shock assembly...
Yeah it’s a pretty easy fix replacing those bushings. Just pull the snap ring off the shaft, knock it through. Then the bag can be separated from the shock. It’s only a friction fit to the base. Then dump out all the broken bushing bits. Replace the destroyed bushing with whatever you find. I...
I saw a lot of bad press on RV forums of questionable quality pumps from eBay. The one I found was a company out of TN? That scrapped school buses. Which of all CAT 3126 uses is probably the best case. Not idle time to speak of, generally on a maintenance schedule, and warmed up before starting...
Wow, big price difference from where you got quoted. My local CAT dealer quoted like $1800 with a $600 core charge if I recall.
the job was easy enough that I decided to chance a used pump…. Which has worked perfectly and maintains 40psi with thinner oil. I was running 15-w40 and now 10-w30.

Well I hope your trip is uneventful and a ton of fun. There is a lot of brainpower here in this forum at your fingertips. Sounds like you have prepared appropriately. Have a great trip!
That PCU does come apart quite easily. I think I posted some pictures of mine when I was cleaning and fixing. What a frustrating experience. Good luck finding the culprit.
I looked around after you posted and didn’t see anything…. That doesn’t mean much but I’m usually good at finding stuff. Anyways, looks like PTFE w/stainless braided cover. Great extreme temp and pressure stuff, order one to your specifications online I’d say.
