There wasn’t anything difficult about that oil pump swap. As with most jobs there was just a lot of work. I dropped the driveshaft, exhaust, trans cooler hose carrier. The worst part was indeed the oil cooler bracket. The lower engine mount bolts weren’t terribly hard, then the passenger top was...
Hey all,
So while swapping out the engine oil pump I pullled the exhaust down pipe. The one that goes between the post turbo 90* turndown and muffler. I found the first exhaust pipe clamp broken and obviously not supporting the exhaust anymore. Then I found my V-band cracked….. like almost 360*...
Welcome to the madness! Congratulations on the purchase. I think it’s a better value than a $70k+ truck. I’m up in NH, got a M1078A1.
On the air ride leak, it sounds like the level control valve. That’s one I haven’t rebuilt, but it looks easy enough.
They fit, it takes a bit to figure it out. I stow mine for the winter usually. You do have to pay attention to the hinges and bumpers. You would think it would have been designed a bit better. Seems it wouldn’t have taken much to make it perfect.

I’ll just show myself out now….
It’s easier, faster and less hassle to spin the filter off and verify there isn’t any debris under the flapper.
I did post up procedures and pics on what to do after I had posted on this thread.
Even if you replaced the head the first time you prime the system if there is debris in the tank it...
I don’t know where you are located. But here in New England that stuff is a no go if you like your vehicle. It just takes one rock or ding to let water/salt corrosion to start. The. That spot grows…quickly. In the Southwest probably not a problem.
Heading off topic here…… but I’ve just come to accept that these trucks are build so that the average teenager can’t break them without having absolutely malicious intentions. That leaves plenty of performance enhancing options off the table pretty quickly.
Accidentally leaves the axles locked...
With all my off road trucks with larger tires I’ve run 1/8”. This was based on my friends recommendation. Seems to always work, hands off down the road with big tires. Sounds like that might work on these trucks too!
