    M1078A1 voltage issues/no power

So I pulled out the relay block, found the diode bridge thing had broken the rings off on both relays. So I put new diodes on. I tested both relays for operation and they cu-chunk on the bench pretty good. Once they are back in the truck and hooked up the cu-chunk noise is…. Less than...

    M1078A1 voltage issues/no power

I’m working through all the power connections, cleaning as I go. I’ve found something I’ve got a question about. On the tip connection of the LBCD there is a lighter gauge wire with fireproof sleeve on it. It seems to have a really floppy kink in it. See the picture. Anyone know what’s under there?

    M1078A1 voltage issues/no power

For all my measurements I used the closest bare metal spot on the chassis. I did have my hands in that area, by the starter as I was pulling wire bundles through. I will check that ground out tomorrow.

    M1078A1 voltage issues/no power

Well yesterday was a nice day, went for a ride. Parked the truck last night. Worked on routing electrical wires for the Boss snow plow …. But hooked up NOTHING…. Had everything in place and was ready to make a beer run. I turned the power switch on and Voltage showed low, 22-24VDC, huh, I didn’t...

No run condition and Loping 3126 Cat 7.2 6x6

I had posted it somewhere else but every time I tried to drain the water bowl the fuel just got sucked back to the tank. Turned out to be a bug part stuck under the rubber flapper, it’s there to prevent drain back, but I don’t work with bug parts stuck in it.

Excellent write-up on troubleshooting our trucks!

No run condition and Loping 3126 Cat 7.2 6x6

First off, I’m no expert on these engines. I did stay at a Holiday Inn a while back, however from what I’ve read, mostly on RV forums…. Sounds like a Heui failure. I have been looking into it as my truck has done this from time to time. Best case you R2 the pump and you are good to go. Worst...

    Winch install question/issue

Wow that’s so cool…. I had the thought about using synthetic line. However I plan on skidding logs out, I’m sure I’d damage it it in no time at all. But man….500’ of line…..

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

^^ Didn’t do anything that cool^^ I just made a door handle latch. Mine was coming apart, the pot metal it’s cast of is complete garbage. So I used 1/8” steel and made a new handle and legs. Totally not worth the time, unless you aren’t able to order new/different handles.

That reference is for these guys, from the winch harness.

    Custom winch wiring.

Uh, yeah I think I found the pins. Ordered some I found on EBay. Haven’t had a chance to try them out yet. It took a lot of digging to find them. Souriau SM16ML-1S6 Crimp Pin that’s the best I got for you right now.

    Custom winch wiring.

Understood, just thought I’d bring that point up. I’m not for or against factory wiring. Or neutral/in gear winching. I’d personally like the option. I’m also about ready to wire my winch up. All the hard mechanical stuff is done. I just need some “spare time”….

    Custom winch wiring.

As I recall from reading about the PTO/Allison setup…. The trans has to remain in neutral because the torque converter is locked up when the PTO is engaged. I would guess you wouldn’t want extensive use heating the trans fluid from an unlocked converter transferring power. Also I recall max PTO...

Snow plow, Boss 10’ V install

No, been working on firewood production. Along with building another woodshed. I should be back to it in a couple weeks. I did get a few new parts for the plow. I’m also waiting on a heavy duty wire crimper for the power cables….. though it may just be an excuse to buy another tool.

Air conditioner install using Waterloo parts

Start the truck…… you should know in a second or two.

    Huck bolt removal tool

Nice anvil….. so the question is can you reuse it? Or is it just cut it off and toss it?

    Winch install question/issue

I’ve been thinking the same thing. Just hadn’t got to it yet. I was thinking I’d find out where it really is supposed to go in the meantime.
