What did you do to your deuce this week?

The word 'done' is profane olde magick that causes instant and random failure in the object described as such.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I switched to Napa 90wt mineral gear oil. I've had it out on one decent ride and it feels good so far, but I'm withholding judgement until I put a few more good trips on it.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Non Detergent SAE 30 motor oil.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Drained the ND 30 out of my trans, since that experiment failed and refilled with 90wt gear oil. The ND30 made a minor improvement in the cold weather and the first few shifts of the day, but then it would get markedly worse. Interestingly, as things, and the weather, got warmer it would begin...

Stalls, then won't crank - then does

Twice in recent memory, I've found circuits showing voltage but not able to carry any amps. First was on my deuce, the turn signal switch contacts were partially burnt inside and (iirc) would show 24 volts at the flasher, but not carry enough power to actually get the thing to flash. Second was...

    M35A2 Transmission Fluid Change

I'm not overly familiar with Arizona, but I do understand its rather warmer than the northeast! I probably wouldn't run 85/140 here...

    M35A2 Transmission Fluid Change

Update to my post directly above: I'll soon be removing the 30ND from my trans and going back to some form of 80-90. Following the switch Ive been having a lot of slow, sticky feeling shifting and I don't like it at all. 2nd has become very hard to find and while I can still engage well enough...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Yeah, im going to spend a very few minutes looking for some 'yellow metal safe" gear oil at napa, but if I cant find any on the shelf, Im going back to regular ol' 80-90. Oh well, live and learn.

    trailer air brake operation

Isn't it just like a Deuce to prove that even consistency can be worrisome? No redundancy on the truck or trailer brakes, small parking brake and no Jakes... just Soldier A and Soldier B having a quick discussion about whether its better to hit the mess hall or the generals car... Ive been...

    Turn signal switch rebuild

Well, I know for sure the switch can be taken apart and cleaned. Letting the smoke out is usually a sign that things are pretty fried inside, ability to repair will be determined by exactly what has broken. I doubt any of the internal contacts are available separately, so if things are melted...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I put some flags on, drove around for the 4th... and became increasingly convinced that switching to ND30 in the trans was a mistake. Its getting very "sticky" feeling as soon as it gets warm. Time to pull that oil out and back to gear oil. A well intentioned attempt, but a failure, at least for...

    trailer air brake operation

cattlerepairman, thanks so much for the detailed reply! That's just what I was looking for and, unfortunately, I appear to be correct. Knowing that I'm intensely paranoid of the single circuit brakes, a friend of mine suggested (half in jest) that I just fix up my m105 and tow it around...

    trailer air brake operation

I took a quick look under my truck the other day, and it looks like the modulated air supply to the trailer gladhand comes off the airpac, not the master or valve on the pedal system. Is it safe to assume then that a hydraulic circuit failure on the truck could also potentially stop the booster...

    Resurrecting Oily Brake Shoes

I've cleaned brake shoes before and had no issues to date. I, personally, am way, WAY more concerned with the single circuit brakes than I am with an oily shoe or two.

    spicer 3053a transmission questions.

I own both a mutifuel deuce and a civilian Diamond Reo truck with a very healthy 331/ 3052 and I can say 100% that no matter what the charts say, the 331 makes nowhere near the power of the multi. My 331 is a '69 and rated at 171 hp... at a comical, rod throwing 3600 rpm. I would not want to be...

Inherited deuce, looking for some help with identification

I think one of my old truck manuals covers the Toro-flow, so let me know if you need any service data, I will see what I can dig up. I believe these engines were related to the big GM V6 gas truck engines of the same era. Looks like the rad might be different, since the cap is on the other...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I put some flags on my truck and rolled through town, my own little one man parade. I wasn't the only one to have that idea apparently, passed a few old cars, trucks and tractors doing the same thing! cattlerepairman, that looks like fun. Its amazing how different the lds with d turbo sounds...

Anybody have any aftermarket M35A* LED headlights they particularly like?

cattlerepairman, is your lighting converted to 12 volt, or are those LEDs 24v capable? I'm happy with my stock headlights so far, but I will probably add some LEDs to other parts of the truck in the future. Ive noticed that some LEDs are multi voltage, others say 12v only.

    Detroit 6v53 in an M35A2

What model Diamond T? My big project waiting in the wings is my 1969 Diamond Reo C10142. I put a bunch of miles on her back in the day with the original Gold Comet 6 cylinder gasser... and people think the multifuel is sluggish on the hills, lol! I also put a bunch of miles on an MCI bus with...

    Detroit 6v53 in an M35A2

I have often wondered why the military didn't go with maybe a 6-71 or 6-71T right from the get go...
