So a while back my M1009 which I've owned since 05, had been running prefect suddenly developed a pulsing in rpm's on start up. It died once I put it gear but restarted right away. This was unusual for the truck so I idled up the drive slow allowing it to warm up. Once I hit the road and it...
Karl...I had to double check and make sure I posted that question in the right forum..but I was asking for the CUCV's .. the M1009 to be exact.

THANKS. !! I'm going to replace all the rubber fuel line in the engine compartment area and check for those wear points on the metal lines. great running M1009 till this mystery struck. It does have that crazy zig zaggy soft line on the fuel pump side.....don't know if that's a preformed or...
Quick and dirty...truck quit under acceleration. replaced fuel pump and filter. Primed both but I seem to have air bubbles in the clear hose going into my water bottle I have for a catch and a little foam/air bubbles in the fuel going into the bottle.
Can I hook a section of new fuel line to...
Reading some other threads you and others have committed on it dawned on me that on a Kubota I had a few years ago it quit running cold turkey under full power mowing because the fuel solenoid crapped out. It’s got a distinct “click” when it engages and disengages. Very much like this event...
With that kinda inspiration how can I fail. 🤔🤔🤔🤔👍. Oh and thanks for the info on the correct fuel pump.
I think it was original to the vehicle. THANKS again!

Weather has killed outside for the day BUT....1st thing in the morning I’ll do just that. I’ve been reading some other threads about the IP so I can get an idea about what that project entails. See if it’s within my skill set. I’m more of a “ parts changer” with some mechanical abilities...
Well I tried to fire her up this morning and it was a no go. New pump and filter with no leaks at either. Unplugged the IP and primed both pump and filter. I did notice a big difference in the volume of fuel the new pump is moving compared to the old one.
Filled a small water bottle about 3/4...
Pump installed today. I learned a few lessons and found that the left pump bolt is a pain with the tight clearance around the manifold. Good info you past along on the pump. I double checked
to make sure I got the correct one. I think the one I took off was original to the truck.
I compressed...
Just replaced mine today. Wish I had seen this thread sooner. Two questions, I took off the mounting plate to hold the push rod out of the way. The grease trick would have been nice To know. I saw some one use a Bent hacksaw blade to hold it up.
1st question, is there anyway this push rod can...
It had a strange pulsing in rpms on Start up but quit once the idle kicked down. I didn’t make but a 1/4 mile down the road when it stopped cold turkey under acceleration and just as it shifted into 2nd. Coasted to the side dead stick. It restarted with a little effort and quit again about 100...
My normally great running M1009 quit on me going down the road last week. Research on the forum has got me looking at the fuel sock in the tank. The sending unit started acting up about a year ago so this would seem to be a good time to replace the unit. . My local auto zone doesn't have much...
Doing some research of the forum threads on this topic most seem to have a lack of power before it stopped. My M 1009 was under acceleration and just shifted into 2nd when it suddenly died . All my gen/oil lights came on and I lost power and coasted to a stop. Would a clogged fuel sock do that...
My normally great running M1009 did just about the same thing today. On start up on high idle it had a slight pulsing cycle that stopped when it kicked down. Going down the road it died just a half mile from the house.
It restarted with some effort ..I drove 100 feet and it died again. No...
