Pull the short shaft that connects the trans to transfer case. 8 bolts and your done.

In the past, I've had issues with the ground on the truck side. A dvm hooked to ground on the vehicle then plugged into each pin should tell you which wire on the truck is or isn't working. Gimme some time and I will find the pins you need to test.

Swap out the steering tie rod, install the plate on the passenger side spring, clamp air cyl to long tie rod, hook up air lines, drive with one hand!

How much was the plunger(you called it a piston) moving? Sometimes the button falls off the bottom and it moves, but not enough to create the right pressure.

Ive found it helps tremendously to remove the top of the trans to get it in and out.

Maybe look into a "zodi" shower system. I got one for camping and use it for other stuff all the time! I can't say enough good about them.
