120 miles away, cost savings might be offset by travel. I'll look at them when I make my big order, when I finalize my plans.
I've already changed my layout, yet again. Wanted the align the sink, shower and gray water tank better.
And I'll be building my bed out of a combination steel tube...
I have a whole thread on it, in Deuce Mods. It's a commercial wheel/tire set up for the Deuce.
They're custom 24.5x8.25 wheels with 11r24.5 tires. They are budd wheels, now and tubeless, though I suppose I could use tubes if I wanted.
I bought blank aluminum wheels and took them to a machine...
Looks like plenty of room for chains on the outside, couldn't do inside.
On as side note, now I know why there are so many scallops cut out around the outside of truck wheels. And I'm glad I had a second one done opposite, though I didn't think it would be for this at the time. To get at the...
They look like steel because they were uncut when I bought them, then I had 'em anodized black. Normally they're made for the lifted pick-up market and someone would have some funky custom design done, but I didn't care about that, I just needed a blank wheel for the lug pattern. They're not...
So, this particular sub-project took about a year. Drove home tonight, only got up to about 50 mph, but it seemed ok. Not like it'll go much faster so, it'll probably be fine on the freeway. The shop had to buy a hub socket, I'm paying for it but I told them to keep it - I already own one and...
Actually, my plans are to have a perpendicular motorcycle holder and one of these:
Won't necessarily use that specific carrier, but you get the idea. That motorcycle is 7' 2" long, it'll fit behind nicely.
TLDR: Stuff about my camper build, if you have problems with my threads, you might want to skip this one or look at the pretty picture and shake your head about all the stuff I'm doing wrong.
Thought I'd write up a little update. Like many on here, life takes us in many directions and my time...
I ordered the 24v & 12v kit, the 24v showed up, but the 12v never did. He stated several times that it was going to be shipped, even once providing me with a pre-ship document, but never did. After numerous phone calls (he always answered, just never delivered), I finally put in a claim with...
Not this specific truck, but keep in mind the deuce was used in the Gulf War (Desert Storm) in Iraq, and probably left there. Would be really easy for some to find their way around the region.
Actually, it was about a month, I broke down in the mountains, took a bus home came back a month later and finished the drive.
You've definitely got me on overall mileage.
Welcome to the community! Not that it's a competition, but I drove my deuce 1k miles home
I can't give you any advice, I'm full of ideas though.
This thread and the 8 roundabouts I drove this weekend have me thinking about this subject again.
Though, I'm switching to new wheels and will have to wait until they're on.
Telling someone the world is full of people doing stupid things and dying is not constructive. Some people here have linked videos that show the operation of the winch - that is being constructive. I still like the idea of using a portable winch so I can see what I'm doing. Others have noted...
Thanks I'll be sure to crawl into my cocoon and never come out. Would you like to buy my truck, my cars and my house? Life is so full of perils, why bother trying to live it.
If you've read my other threads and shake your head at my ideas, you're gonna wanna skip this one. What follows may show my ignorance.
So, my plan is to add 3 additional tanks to my truck. Initially, the plan was 2 additional tanks, but the third tank was gonna be pretty difficult to work...
When I switched from stock to 15.5's, I had to fight to keep the truck in it's lane at highway speeds, very stressful way to drive. After reversing the spring seat, it was MUCH better.
You don't notice it as much at lower speeds, so I suppose it depends on how much/where you drive.
I'm going...
Actually, the shop the flubbed the HH swap was Mid Valley Drivetrain in Mission, BC. For what it's worth, I don't hold it against them. It's hard to find anyone to work on these trucks and this guy was doing a bunch of other work for me and said he'd do because it needed doing. All the other...
For sure there comes a point where one needs to admit it's time to throw in the towel and call a pro. I have a fantasy (not that kind, sickos :p) concerning this truck. I want to take it on a world trip, to drive the outback in Australia, to trace the Mongol Rally course across Europe/Asia...
Are you trying to match a restoration grade fabric?
Here's a list of military textiles, you can go through it and maybe find the type that suits your needs.
Btw, here's a link to the part diagram showing part numbers.
