Im interrested in finding what happened to the daimler ferret scout cars from Canada....in 1954 they bought 124 of them....they used them until 1980-81 then disposed of them.....most went to the U.S. ....sold by a few dealers.....i know where a few are....and i know one dealer that scrapped...
Well have that project done....not to bad.....and i have the engine deck back on....a little slow doing that....working alone....you know....maybe im getting lazy......
When i got my mog it didnt run exactly right....i will bet you i removed and cleaned the carb....oh lets say a hundred times....ill bet....then found a guy with a yard full of old mb cars....bought a distributor complete wires ect....never ran better....i never took the time...or had the brains...
Put the glue on the final part today....all looks well so far....i would much rather use original parts...but as time goes by....they are much harder to find....and then theres the price if can find them....this reproduction set may even look better than a new set...anyway im happy....be done soon.
I was witness to the scrapping of 4 crates of military vehicle parts from canada....long ago....the one i helped unpack was marked 11000 lbs. .....almost all the parts went to a dumpster headed to the dump....such a waste....long story....maybe another time....
Hello Johan....the old smithy lathe is o.k. for a home shop....some people love them and some hate them...i only use the mill / drill for drilling sometimes...i have another milling machine.....looks like you are coming along nicely with the gauges.....to me that looks like rocket...
Just watched your sunday drive video....excellent....you mentioned a fuel regulator? I take it you use an electric fuel pump?.....have you done a detailed cleaning of your carb?.....very nice video....thanks.

Have all the rubber cut now....some final fitting...prepwork...then ill be ready to start with the glue...its not perect or original...but much better than what i had..
Which was zero....
Today ive been cutting the rubber....again the dewalt does a great job cutting the angles....it came from a company that used it to cut aluminum stock....was headed to the trash bin....i saved it....just needed a new switch.....going to need a few more things when im done....no problem.....found...
Heres a photo of my lathe...yes its a smithy....bought it new in about 1996....i learned with it and have done many modifications to it....its no southbend or leblonde but i always thought if i can learn to use this then if i ever got a better made machine life would be easy...
The 1 inch steel rod has been cut to fit as a core....frame...then the holes marked and drilled...tapped....cut 3/8 bolts as studs.....experimenting with some glues to find a good choice to bond the rubber to the steel core...i also have been useing a dewalt miter saw to cut all the...
Oh Johan...you must be very careful working in a kitchen without your wifes permission...i mean supervision....well anyway its a good thing you didnt get caught....ha ha....its all fun.
