There are kits on the auction sites right now that contain all parts, brackets and wires except the alternator itself.
The 200 amp alternator is good for about 50 amps from the 12v tap.

Jon,
You'll have to google around to find out how to do the mod.
242's were in Jeeps in the 90's or something, so that's where the parts are coming from.
H1's didn't have 2Hi, they are mechanically the same as the HMMWV.

Flipping the tires on the rims is not a task to be taken lightly. You will have to pull the run flats out of the tires and flip them around too. The thick part that makes up the run flat portion of the run flat/beadlock must be mounted so that it is offset to the inside of the vehicle.
"These...
The tire is mounted on the rim so the date code faces out when installed on the vehicle. That way all wheels are built the same and the date code can always be read. Since the date code is always on the same side of the tire, the tire tread on tires mounted to one side of the vehicle "face...
I heard wet stacking was a common problem with those tactical quiet generators. I don't know if it had to do with the generator itself or the way they were run with light loads.

I just put two yellow tops into my HMMWV and they start it great. I run a bunch of accessories with the truck off sometimes, so I opted for the deep cycle.
There is nothing special about starting the engine... It's just a 6.2/6.5. I presume 6TL's are used on the bigger trucks for commonality...
Yep, that's the stuff. It's used to seal the transfer case halves together too.
I did split and re-sealed the transfer case in my HMMWV with it and also used it on the trans to adapter joint and adapter to t-case. There were no gaskets anywhere.

If you really want to do it right, install a 12/24 dual voltage alternator and skip the DC/DC converter. Pull 12v directly from the middle of the battery stack.

Yes. As an example:
If the coil resistance is 400ohms, with 12v applied it will draw .030a (Ohm's Law, V=I*R).
Your goal is to maintain the same current flow at higher voltage. Current flow heats the part, and heat is what destroys parts. When you hook 24v up to a 12v part, you are flowing...
I would suggest installing a resistor in series before the coil in each relay, and then if you have multiple relays on a given light circuit, run them in parallel.
Measure the resistance of the coil and use a resistor of the same value.

There is no highway performance with the Detroit. The natural roll of the land the highway runs across is enough to slow the truck down and any mild grade and it'll be going 45 or 50. When I'm on the highway I'm usually in the slow lane with the semi's.
With the 3-speed TH400 that's in there...
You won't gain anything in 2wd. There are no lockout hubs, so you will still be spinning the full front drive train by way of the wheels. I get 10mpg empty on the highway and 10mpg loaded with a fully loaded M101A3 around town. It doesn't seem to care what the load is.
Also, the truck weighs...
Are you talking about the arctic top and doors, or a fuel fired heater?
There were two variants of heater, Swingfire and something else. They are in the TM. My understanding is you can't even start it up unless its like -30 out because it will turn the cab into an oven.
If you can find a...
How do you know it is a 6.5L engine?
You've got a TH400 3-speed tranny, so be aware that the maximum speed is 55mph if you want to keep the engine in one piece for long.

Be careful with the MRAP seatbelts. The floor of the HMMWV isn't really strong enough to hold the combined force of a person and the seat (especially in the rear, where it's just a couple of clips retaining the seat pan) and you can rip the whole seat out with you still strapped in during a...
If you are having blow-outs due to age, you should be able to see the difference in the rubber of the tire. You'll either see the cracking from the dry rot, or the sun damaged tires have a certain sheen and smoothness to them where tires that aren't damaged are more matte. You can feel it by...
