Thanks I downloaded the TM. At least now I know it is part of a Winterization kit. There isn't much on operation and repair I imagine they don't want the guy in the field to touch it.

I agree 100% with Daybreak. I thought the whole point of belonging to a forum was to share info and help each other out. I just don't understand the mindset that wants to restrict the free flow of information to members.

Hi, I am planning on using my 831a to power my cottage and I am hoping it will run the 40 gallon water heater with everything else turned off. The rating is 3850 watts so it looks like I will be a bit over the 831 capacity but it will be a resistive load. My 803 wouldn't have any problem...

It isn't a problem for the genset guys. It is a problem for everyone else who has to wade through genset stuff to find whatever interests them other than gensets.

I reduced the pull on the magnet. Very frustrating!! I finally decided to put an indexing mark on both the magnet and it's housing with a sharpie pen so I could tell where I was moving the magnet to. I also found if I had the magnet in contact with the plate it wouldn't rotate when I tightened...

I did what you said and it jumps for sure. When I first got it it was maxed out on the speed screw and it had hardly any pull on the magnet and wouldn't shut off. I set the govenor up and used a fishing scale to set the magnet at 5 lbs but they aren't the most precise instruments you can buy...

Hi I have been reading all the generator posts for the MEP831a and downloaded the TM's. I used Guyfangs set up TM and have the generator operating as it should except for one thing. It shuts down fine which it wouldn't before but the magnet won't release to restart. My friends generator releases...
