What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

That reverse light bezel is awesome! The headlights are already done: Sean: Chad:

    Top speed - highway

It would blow some of your minds to venture outside the US. Germany for example has a minimum speed on the highway, 37mph. Trucks are limited to 55mph. All the while, getting passed at 140+mph. However, they put in a lot more effort to ensure people drive safer than we do.

what has to be done to swap a c3116 to a c3126

And, without a doubt, I would do it all again and again :D I have an A0 and an A1. Guess which one ran fine one day, sat for a month and I haven't been able to get running again since then. I will admit, I haven't spent a lot of time troubleshooting but I've spent enough to know that the...

    lmtv top frame rail moved

haha no mag drill would be a hard stop on that entire idea. 29 3/4" between the rails. A suggestion on thickness would be a shot in the dark without a lot of engineering. A 3/4" x 7" plate has a similar area moment of inertia (resistance to bending based on the shape) as the secondary frame...

    lmtv top frame rail moved

You can only lower the habitat a limited amount before the tires require wheel wells. Without the secondaries, the chassis will flex more and you'll need more clearance under the subframe. So, I'm not sure how much effort you want to put in for limited gains.... Assuming you're moving or...

    LMTV rocker switches

So, yesterday, I looked forever trying to find para 2-40. I finally realized I was in the 6x6 manuals which are all I have on my work comp and I'm sure you're looking at the 4x4. So, let's give this another shot since I have the 4x4 manuals now. Yes, the para is paragraph, or that's my...

    2 inch receiver hitch source?

The price seems high but who cares. No matter what the price is, it's going to be high for a DIY person/community. I live my life by, "why buy it for $20 when I can make it for $100!?" I'm more curious how/if they're structurally tying into the frame. The (4) 12mm bolts that attach the 11ga...

Civilian Headlight and Keyed Ignition Switches for FMTV/LMTV - Looking for Input

Is that fact or speculation? I thought Acela and FMTV T.S. were one in the same. I assumed they weren't making money in parts sales and went back to solely building trucks.

    FMTV Replacement Door Handle Upgrade

You can't install those Trimark handles without the bezels. The handle is installed from the inside, the bezel goes on the outside and sandwiches everything together. They're well made. $200 is reasonable IMO. I don't believe those handles come with keys but I could be mistaken. The...

A1R rear axle locker (intermediate axle from MTV) questions.

Bumping this thread with a couple pics. Here are pinions from an A0 FMTV; mid axle on the left, front/rear axle on the right. I don't know what the A1R has inside the rear axle but if someone machined the right side to look like the left, that would be impressive.

Electrical schematic needed for M1083A1, turn signals & backup wires

That's exactly why I added a camera for the right side ;) I used GAEYAELE GRT8-B1 DC but that's only because they were on Amazon. B is for Off-delay so the relay gets the trigger signal and when the signal cuts out, the timer starts counting down. 1 means single pole. DC will work for 12...

Electrical schematic needed for M1083A1, turn signals & backup wires

I haven't dug into an A1 with the circuit board. Do you have TB1 under the circuit board? I wired cameras to the turn signals and the reverse light but it was on an A0. I tapped the left signal at TB1-48, the right on TB1-44 and reverse from the 490 wire coming off connector P51 (in the...

DIY Remote Tire Inflation System (RTIS?)

Use a torch on the valve body before removing the screws or at least before using an impact. They break off easily, be gentle. If it turns out to be a bigger issue and/or one you don't want to deal with, the valve core from the wheel valve should screw into the stem. Remove the whole wheel...

    AC Compressor Mounting Bracket Plans

Hey all, Here's a custom compressor bracket you can make. I'm not interested in making these, just thought I'd share if anyone was interested. The exact dimensions and layout might have to be modified to fit your exact pulley & compressor. I used a custom pulley and a 75r8424 compressor...

Have a good source for rubber air brake lines for FMTV's?

Not sure what you're looking for but both places have SAE 100R5 hose. (y)

M1083A1 Suspension Arms ie Dog Bones for Rear Axles

Have a good source for rubber air brake lines for FMTV's?

I order all my custom hoses from hosesandfittings.com. Easy to use website & good customer service. Another alternative is discounthydraulichose.com which has more options. Are you looking at the nylon tubes or the rubber hoses that go from the frame to the hubs? IIRC the fittings on the...

    FMTV High Speed Gears

A big hurdle is that the pinion nut requires 900-1100 ft lbs. You might be able to use a torque multiplier braced against the yoke but I would be concerned about damaging the yoke. If your press doesn't have a gauge, you have to torque the pinion nut to check the bearing preload which is...

purchasing M1083 or M1078 as a partial renovation

This thread is akin to going on a dating site and simply posting, "Women, I've arrived. Come to me". Post a question of some sort if you come up with one. There are lots of knowledgeable people on here, eager to help. Otherwise, it looks like you're trying to find a service, presumably for...
