My point was that you may be able to do a temporary fix, but I recommend not, if you can avoid it. A temporary fix all to often becomes permanent and fails unexpectedly, while leaving the brakes in-op is pretty clear.
My first 2 had water in the brake system and it pitted the first master...
You don’t have to run a replacement line exactly where the original ran. Run it from where you can reach to where you can reach. I am a huge fan of copper nickel line as it is so flexible and easy to run.
I once used a couple of compression fittings and a grease gun hose to splice the failed...
I am sorry to hear that you have had such a go of it getting your truck operational. It is frustrating to have problems, even more frustrating when someone else caused them by incompetence or lack of patience, and most frustrating when they were caused by my own incompetence or lack of...
I have used online services like printme1.com to get printed, bound PDF’s shipped to my door for less than I can print for. In the case of the FLU, I had to split the service manuals into half each to fit the page requirement for binding. It is nice to have a paper copy in the garage and an...
Not to pick on you, but to pick on you....
You’ve mentioned many times that your SEE’s rarely leave your property.
Mine rarely drives more than 30 minutes at a time at 50mph. But I would rather trust my 6000lb rated surplus radials.
Like you, I didn’t like the low weight rating of the stock 12.5R20, and I wanted a larger footprint for better flotation.
I’m running 365/80R20 surplus Michelins now, which are the same as 14.5R20’s. I am running them on surplus minesweeper wheels which are similar to the drum brake rims. I had...
Maybe worth reminding, the army had a bulletin for the bolts holding the deck to the frame. The bolts would dig into the softer metal, lose tension, then fretting corrosion would start. Fretting corrosion is no fun and can lead to fatigue failures. The solution was to remove the bolts, add a...
No
No, I have spare FLU419 springs from one I am parting out.
there is more spring info on the Benzword forum.

Have you considered getting springs for a regular 406 Unimog? The FLU with all attachments is a heavy beast and that is what the springs are sized for. The 395 tires are a very stiff sidewall and 65psi is even higher than the 12.5R20 tires. Hence your very stiff ride.
Guys with the 406’s are...
I'm torn. I didn't pay that much and I wouldn't, but I wouldn't sell mine for less than $15K. The last few I have seen sell on the surplus auctions have gone for well over $15k, but there are fools out there. Mine has not needed constant work, but it does need little things, and there is a...
The case dealer will have the hoses for the backhoe, part numbers are in the TM’s. They will not be old, but they will be expensive. The backhoe hoses.have steel sleeves mid hose for fastening that I have not seen all hydraulic shops have. If you don’t add them, you will need to develop a...
I’ll happily sell you a set of tilt brackets, but you had better believe I would exhaust every option with lights, inspection mirrors and cameras before I would tilt the cab and unbolt the trans. You can check the clutch fork where it is activated by the slave cylinder under the cab. And you...
If I answer your question, don’t let it stop you from going through the TM and learning more about the machines.
The backhoe is powered off the PTO on the transmission. The front loader is powered by belt off the engine. I would put money that your clutch is stuck somehow. You can look at it...
I have to remind myself from time to time that the FLU is not a standard Unimog. The vast majority of items are standard or similar, but it differs in interesting ways: for example, the weight is 9740 lbs without the backhoe or loader. I have the breakdown by tire on the main owners thread.
LF...
We have to recall there are far more Unimogs than the Military FLU419. Many of them were DOT 4. Refer to the applicable manual or lubrication order for your particular vehicle.
