Sorry, I misread and thought you were advocating a 580C book. You are correct with the 35C. But I just printed out the military manuals and parts manuals via an online pdf print service.
I keep having to correct this. The FLU419 has an M35 backhoe on it which is similar to the 580E. No point in buying the 580C when the military parts books list the Case numbers.
These are relatively rare items. There are very few places with parts just sitting on the shelf. Expedition imports in California by far has the largest collection of parts. Other people tend to get pieces and surplus auctions and list them on eBay. After that you may have a person like myself...
Oh dear! That’s sliding collar is the quick detach for the backhoe. If you slide it while you’re driving down the road, you’re liable to put 3000 pounds of backhoe through an F150s windshield.

Even at 70F, it takes me 5-10 seconds to get engine oil pressure on the Flu. Reminds me of a Deuce and a half. How soon do you get engine oil pressure?

The black wire under the dash has caused this problem before. Examine the black wire for damage or corrosion. I’m 95% sure the black wire will be the problem.
The brakes do not require air to function, though they require air to function well. The brake lights should illuminate when pedal is pushed.
Assuming you are familiar with proper operation of the military light switch, try the black-out lights to see if their brake lights work.

I’m still curious about the condition of the oil after the drive. If you pull a plug and get a quick sample , you can look for crunchy bits, but I think you may be ok.

Long time, no see!
Just like me, you are running larger than stock tires. That definitely made it worse for me. However I have always thought it was the squeal of the pressure relief, not the belt slipping. I’d like to shim the pressure relief spring a little.
If the transmission was full of water, and stopped with a clunk clunk, I would not be looking at superficial fixes.
That said, let’s do some basic diagnostics:
Have you replaced the shifter bushings?
What oil did you use after draining out the water?did you drain from all 2(or 3?) drain plugs...
You missed at least one cause.
6. Rust in the crossover air line contaminates the air system and plugs solenoids, filters, lines. This is a known issue and covered in the PS magazine articles.
A very common issue is shifter bushings, which will prevent it from actually getting into gear. These affect both shifter levers.
