Saw This on a Diesel Heater Forum

I'm wondering if it has a gas engine, not diesel, for the prime mover? Then again, it may not be appropriate to inject logic here...

Saw This on a Diesel Heater Forum

Since it appears to be on a 2wd van, the odds are decent that it will survive essentially unprotected like that for a long time, allowing the defective genes to be passed along to the next generation. I would definitely vote for a substantial skid plate and / or for having it not be the lowest...

M923A1 wont go above 20 MPH

Agreed but from recent experience helping repair a truck that had this happen (debris plugging the glad hand vent), the fronts were grabbing much harder than the rears, enough to damage the wheel bearings on both sides. I could see how someone could think it was only the fronts that had an issue...

M923A1 wont go above 20 MPH

Have you checked that the front right glad hand with the vent cap isn't plugged up? That can cause brakes to lock up too.

Broken bolt of my CUCV M1009 please help identify where it came from!

Lots of good advice here! Also be sure to use the starter tail support if using the big direct drive starter. It will break bolts again quickly without it, at least from my experience on gas engines. I have had to do the ez-out process on a gas big block before and it was aggravating to get the...

    Military Vehicle Camper Insurance

Indiana here, not Arizona, so things may differ, but my camper conversion is insured as an RV by State Farm. Had to give a few pictures showing that it was indeed modified to be an RV, but no hassles beyond that.

NC Insurance for a M936A2 for personal use

I don't know if NC and IN branches of State Farm have the same options available to them, but my agent wrote my deuce as a 'commercial vehicle used for non commercial purposes'. The cost is reasonable compared to other policies I have. You might try mentioning that phrase to your insurance agent...

Stuck Drag Link & Pitman Arm

A few thoughts / ideas... It looks like there may still be serrated washers on top of those cones. If so, get those off there first. Use a wire brush to clean off the gunk and verify. I had to use a small screwdriver and a small hammer to unread them the first bit and then they came loose...

    Reflectors or no reflectors?

I put some strips of DOT reflexite tape onto magnetic sheet and put it on the back of the truck any time I drive in the dark. I remove it at my destination.

modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

I have dealt with some that were referred to as combination valves but were for disc brakes at all corners and really only had the function of the shuttle valve inside that shut off fluid flow to one circuit if one side had significantly more fluid go through it than the other. It just keeps...

    Three lever switch

Could you get around the breaker issue by having the output from the switch trigger a relay that powers the headlights, instead of powering the headlights directly?

modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

This would activate the trailer brakes, but unless I am missing something there would be no modulation of the trailer brake force applied. A light tap of the truck brakes would give full trailer brakes, wouldn't it? I thought the air pack had at least some ability to modulate the amount of...

Main shaft removal - output bearing

I got mine out about that far by using a long bolt and carefully tapping on the outer race, one slow tap at a time, similar to what DaneGer21 did. When the angle got severe enough the bolt would no longer hit on the outer race, I used a large allen wrench and a hammer turned sideways to tap...

    Can't Upgrade My Account?

I tried sending you a PM earlier but I'm not sure if it actually sent. My account still appears to be 'upgraded' as of now. Ready to do the switch whenever you are.

    Can't Upgrade My Account?

My paid membership expires in the Spring so I would like to buy another couple years now during the membership drive. However, under the 'upgrade' tab the only thing available is the vendor account which I don't need. Is there a way I can add more time now while it is cheaper and gets me a...

Wheel spindle lock washers - am I missing something?

Looks like that is who I bought mine from, so he must have had a bunch of them! I bought a handful, not just 1 package of 2, and he combined the shipping. As far as RCT is concerned, I dealt with them about a decade ago to get a remote brake fluid reservoir for my deuce. They were the cheapest...

Wheel spindle lock washers - am I missing something?

I had a similar experience with the aftermarket version being cheap Chinese junk that wouldn't fit. I searched the part number on ebay and found a guy that was selling NOS parts and they worked fine. They cost more but they fit. Not sure if there are still any of those available, I bought mine...

    M109 rotted floor

I did both. Seemed to me like the metal was there for a reason - to keep the wood from getting wet every time the truck got driven in the rain. I spot welded in a 14 ga sheet similar to how the original was held in, then replaced the oak I took out with two layers of marine grade plywood to...
