    2019 Haspin

I'm planning on being there. Anybody going to be there Friday or is it just a day trip on Saturday this time?

    MEP-006A Issues

I only get down to this camp a few times a year, but a couple weeks ago in anticipation of my trip today I told the camp leader that the entire exciter module was available online and that it was my only remaining suggestion to fix the generator. Tonight I swapped out the exciter module, and...

CTIS: How I fixed my 5 flashing lights

The single flashing light means it has never closed the CTIS specific 120 psi pressure switch at the tank saying that it has enough pressure to attempt to function. Seems like multiple people have found that the sensor needs more than 120 psi to read 120 psi when it gets some age on it. You can...

    M923A2 CTIS Problem

Those seals aren't the greatest and get loose over time, allowing the wheel valve assembly to slide outwards as you've seen. If it comes off like you have shown, it should give you the 5 blinking lights on the CTIS computer. I think some people have used short pieces of heater hose to replace...

    Jeepsinker's M35A2 6BT Cummins swap ( pics and videos)

The gear cover adapter and the angle drive adapter do cross over directly, but the nut on the MW pump from a 939A2 is a different size than the P7100 P-pump. You'll need PN 3917333 for the drive coupling to fit a P-pump. I've been following this thread and your youtube channel very closely...

    M108 deuce wrecker engine swap

When I did this last year, I hit it with a sledge hammer and a piece of 3/4" round stock and couldn't get it to budge. I melted half of the ball end of one with a TIG torch and it wouldn't let go. By chance a friend stopped by and held the round stock (with a pair of vise grips so his hands...

    MEP-006A Issues

Is this the same test in the -34 described on table 2-2 item 22? It references the K5 relay on the A5 card, and has you test at the terminals on the card rather than the pins on the relay itself. I did that test a couple weeks ago and it all checked out OK. I can go back and check the other...

    MEP-006A Issues

When I release S2 to go back to the 'run' position, no idiot lights / warning lights come on. I have verified using the test / reset switch that all the bulbs do indeed work.

    MEP-006A Issues

I got a chance to work on this generator after work today, but unfortunately I don't have any good news to report. I replaced the voltage regulator and it's still doing the same things it did before. When I let off the start switch, it no longer makes power. I brought the old voltage regulator...

    MEP-006A Issues

Thank you, Guyfang! This is very helpful information for me. I thought I had read that running a generator at idle would damage something, but I didn't know what it would damage and what speed / duration would cause it. I looked at the internals of the exciter assembly yesterday and didn't see...

    MEP-006A Issues

Ok folks, I spent some time troubleshooting this MEP-006A yesterday, and I'm still stuck and in need of guidance. It starts instantly and will generate power as long as I hold the switch in the 'start' position, but if I set the switch to 'run' all of the AC gauges go dead and the engine...

6CTA8.3 engine rebuild for Sur Móvil

I used 12' long 4x4's for the side frames, a 14' long 4x4 for the top beam, random 2x4's for reinforcements, ratchet straps to brace one end to the driver's side front tire, and a piece of 1/4" thick x 4" wide x ~2' long flat steel and a ratchet strap as the slide for the chain hoist. The chain...

Post what is needed to Title an FMTV as an RV in YOUR state.

INDIANA Indiana defines a Recreational Vehicle as the following: http://iga.in.gov/legislative/laws/2017/ic/titles/009#9-13-2-150 If your vehicle meets the above criteria, you have a police officer fill out a State Form 39771 to change the designation for the vehicle on the title from its...

Checking out/Buying M109A3 on Friday, what do I need to look out for?

As far as the box goes, if there was any kind of roof leak, plan on going in and taking out the wood floor if you are planning to fix the rust that it would have created. Mine didn't look too bad from the bottom, but I swept up 8 gallons of rust prior to cutting out all the sheet metal in the...

My Build Thread: M909 Recreational Vehicle

2StateTrigger, No I did not consider putting a 'normal' camper on the back, because I bought the M109 for the express purpose of making it into a camper. I only went with the 5 ton chassis because of how cheaply I was able to get a good one at the time. Otherwise I would have continued to build...

My Build Thread: M909 Recreational Vehicle

In the spirit of full disclosure, the vast majority of the driving that I've done in the camper on either chassis was on paved roads. I've always thought that taking it over too rough of terrain would be tough on the cabinets and other wood work. When it does go off road, I take it slow, and...

Haspin Acres Fall 2017 Rally info thread

You're welcome! I'm glad we were able to get it working properly for you. I do believe you had everyone beat as far as generator noise goes! The award for most annoying generator would still have to go to the folks on top of the hill who ran it 24/7 until it finally left Saturday...

MRAP runflat, can it be used on a 5 ton combat wheel?

The MRAP run flats in the 395's work just fine on the 5 ton combat wheels. That is what I run on my truck. I'm not sure if the Aluminum wheels use the same o-ring as the steel wheels, so I can't help with that part. The steel MRAP wheels use 5/16 cross section part number OR20TUA.
