    Help Identifying Engine Label

So at about 10 years in service they rebuild most trucks. The rebuild process has a set amount of money allotted per vehicle. Once they replace everything that is actually broken or worn, they tend to replace major components like engine/transmission/transfer case with ones they've rebuilt in...

    EMP Proofing HMMWV

There was a study in 2004 about the effects of EMP on civilian vehicles. I believe it was by the EMP comission. Of 37 vehicles tested, only a few died while running when hit by EMP. Of those few, only one failed to restart. As others have said, if you're close enough to the source of the EMP...

    EMP Proofing HMMWV

The only vehicles I saw in the military that were grounded when parked were fuel trucks.

    Hello everyone, new here.

truck will start and run no problem without the regulator hooked up, just using battery power. I wouldn't hesitate to drive for a lot further than 45 feet without it, as the engine itself doesn't require much power to operate

HMMWV Tires, how old can they be used?

I've used tires that were 20 years old and they worked just fine. I bought a set less than 10 years old with almost new tread, and they started failing within 6 months of putting them on the vehicle. It completely depends on how the tires are stored, and what tire they are to begin with. The...

    Hello everyone, new here.

if there isn't enough adjustment on the switch, you can always just bend the bar that goes to it from the pedal. That's what I did along side the road after being told my brake lights weren't coming on, and some pliers made it a quick repair.

    Icy Roads

the HMMWV is unstoppable on ice. Literally can not be stopped. The plus side is, once it slides off the road into a ditch, it can usually just drive right back out of the ditch.

    Whats this tire carrier?

8 studs support the tire mounted onto a vehicle weighing up to 15,500 lbs. Pretty sure 2 studs can hold a tire weighing 160ish lbs against a backing plate. The center hub supports the tire weight anyway, the studs are just to keep it from sliding off.

    cooling fan switch thread size?

Have you considered switching to a civilian style fan clutch setup rather than the military one? The only real advantage to the military one has to do with deep water fording, or possibly that it locks up 100% for a little more aiflow. It honestly seems like more hassle than it's worth for...

    cooling fan switch thread size?

Isn't the cadillac valve still going to be 24V? Or am I missing something?

Question of understanding: Decommissioning of HMMWV in the US forces

basically, but they do rate the engine at 205hp instead of 190hp like the older turbo trucks.

Question of understanding: Decommissioning of HMMWV in the US forces

Supposedly there was a report of a saber in ukraine launching drones of some type, but I can't find where I heard that. I did find an article about that saber version, so it wouldn't surprise me if there were some being field tested over there...

    CV BOOT INSTALLATION

Camouflage storage rack I got mine as part of the BEOD kit when those were all sold off as surplus. Designed for a 2 man truck, though I've seen some people install them on 4 man trucks in the civilian world. https://www.ldac.army.mil/web2/archive/PS2004/PS_616/616-19.pdf

Question of understanding: Decommissioning of HMMWV in the US forces

I found here that there was a contract extension as of mid 2022 to keep building them to at least the end of this year. Unless something changes that would put them in service for at least the next 20 years...

Question of understanding: Decommissioning of HMMWV in the US forces

From what I've seen, most larger military equipment like vehicles, as long as they are still current use, have a 20 year expected life. At 10 years or so in service they go through the rebuild/reset where they have a set budget to bring back to like new condition (I think at one point the HMMWV...

Nylon 'Equalizing'? Line on Gas Tank?

When it comes to things I don't understand on my truck, I usually err on the side of "if they bothered to put this on here when they built it, then it probably serves a real purpose. Just because I don't know what the purpose is doesn't mean it isn't there for a good reason" Or in other words...

    My M101A2 Trailer adventure.

The M101A3 had a slightly longer axle with drops at the ends for a little more height, and a little wider fenders to accommodate HMMWV wheels on it. The M101A2 had standard GM wheels the same as the CUCV trucks. EDIT: There are some people that have added wheel spacers and managed to fit...

    M1097A2 Black Box Under Hood

The jack I have stored in that box seems to work fine with my control arms. I don't know if that's because of the M1123 MAK that was installed or not. The one bit of advice I did get concerning that box is if you're going to keep it there then you really want to wrap some type of strap around...

What to expect from a 3k Red River A2

diesel these days contains extremely little sulfur (it's called "ULSD Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel for a reason), and if it was corrosive then there would be all sorts of issues with the vehicle fuel systems that contain many metal components. Of course, you don't want to let it sit for months at a...

    rear upper rifle mount?

technically not supposed to link to active auctions, but I believe that's aimed more towards not affecting the outcome of the auction by increasing it's visibility. The link above is a "buy it now" so not an auction; the same as linking to a part on any vendor's website.
