Got in about 45 min of painting last night in the wind and cold, but the raindrops held off, hit it again for a bit this sunny warm AM, love getting that hideous lime yellow covered up, fully digging this old original color of Korea/Vietnam era paint, it will look pretty good when I'm done for...
Ya I don't see where the secondary brake system has to be completely separate in acuation from the standard brakes, it just has to be there, so if you pull the brake handle up and the main brakes don't work, you still have the E-brake which is manually activated and will still function .
It is...
I scored these 7 14.00x20 Goodyears on rims with CTIS for my M931A2, now I will have all matching and hopefully non leaking tires .
Went up the big 5 road and grabbed these yesterday, trailer wheel bearing **** the bed on the way home, had fun changing that in a parking lot conveniently located...
The truck already has air powered wedge brakes at six wheels, so the E-Brake at the T-case should be considered an auxiliary brake .
I have 2 6x6 tenders and they have never questioned this on mine, one is a Deuce and the other a M931A2, assuming yours is the same ...
Just junk I've accumulated over the years for the water trucks, I have more stuff lying around than any normal person would need/want, and I'm not even done yet ...
Huh, that's an interesting set up you have there .
The front steer axle drums are held on with the lugs, the rear drivers are...
Didn't realize these were so hard to find, I can make them for you if need be, but it might be best to find an old set someone has lying around as steel prices are pretty stupid right meow .
M50 Water Tender
Finally got around to fixing the brakes on the 63 Studebaker .
This brake is the reason I own this truck, it failed on previous owner and rolled backwards off the road, down an embankment and crashed into some trees, he didn't want to repair the truck so I bought it .
The...
By the time you remove everything the TM tells you to remove for flat towing, you could have had it on a trailer and be half way back home after stopping for lunch .
They're not THAT heavy, a decent 8 lug tandem axle trailer will haul it if it will fit on .
Don't tie off the steering wheel if...
New To Me M931A2
Acquired this beast yesterday in a trade, It should arrive today, someone stole the batteries out of it, soon as that is remedied it should be mobile, local too, only about ten miles from the shop .
Should be an M45A2, very cool would love to have that, please don't tear it apart .
There are millions of old M35A2 Deuce's around in any possible configuration you could want already .
Post up more pics !
Wow, wish I had know about this, never saw this thread being a Newb and all, looking forward to next year, maybe there are others, need to get on a list ?
My buddy has a few Allison transmissions new (or possibly reconditioned) still in the crate he bought from Military Auctions, not sure if they are the same as what you need tho, he says they are a three speed transmission .
I would imagine he would sell them quite reasonable ? not sure how to...
Maybe go to any parts store, or a friendly neighbors back 40 and get a regular old stock coil for a 60s 70s Ford pickup or whatever and put it on and see if problem persists, that would also answer coil heat soak question ...
Electronic ignition, like, Pertronix ?
If yes, are you still using the ballast resistors or resistor wire in the feed to the ignition coil or the distributor ?
If so remove them, run straight feeds .
M50 H2O distributor
Got my new to me (and the truck) cab put on yesterday, Easter Sun.
Clutch and trans all put back together and adjusted Sat. the day before .
Need the paint the entire truck back to the old dark green, not sure where to find that, but I'm betting the info is in here...
