The 302 dry with accessories is just over 700 lbs. The Hydramatic should be in the 400 range. The civi models were 325lbs but did not have the big reduction unit on the back like the Military models.
It will be tricky to make it to 10,000lbs but is doable. The bed weighs 2000, if you remove 4...
I'll say a prayer tonight for "that section 8 guy" to get his 5.9 GMC project going. I want too see it happen as much as you do, the 5.9's are the best diesel engine ever made.
It say's they are 12v but you can easily add up the total amp draw and throw a $5 ballast resistor on there. It just goes between the power source and the lights and drops the voltage from 24 down to 12v. Not sure on what size you would need but any one of a hundred members here could tell you...
$13 shipped! Just ordered a pair for the M211.
Summit Racing Clearance NV5064AK - Pilot Automotive Cab Marker Light Kits - Overview - SummitRacing.com
Installed! All rubber mounted for vibration dampening. Next is a custom rubber mounted brace to tie the front clip/grill assembly to the front most crossmember. The original brace for this purpose was part of the 302 radiator frame and is obviously, missing in action.
Head gaskets are 6.5...
It is just a standard fixed pulley, it is 2 groove and sized for C belts which are 7/8" wide!! The nut on the shaft comes off with a 1 1/16 socket and is torqued to over 80 ft lbs. Pulley just slid off of mine, no real press fit to speak of which made for easy removal.
When I get an exact...
After 2 days work my radiator brackets are done. 1/4 flat bar was probably serious overkill but I wanted them nice and beefy. Today I painted them gloss black and put a fresh coat of paint on the brand new radiator/transmission cooler. Installation comes tomorrow.
Also got my alternator from...
I found these Mitsubishi 24v alternator on Ebay several weeks ago. Finally got around to ordering one up. Ebay links are not allowed on the forum, but if you ebay search "Mitsubishi 24 volt alternator" they will show up. The seller is a company called Laborde Products in Louisiana. I spoke with...
That means a lot Dan, I appreciate the kind words. He showed up this morning at the door, boy was I nervous. We spent awhile talking over lunch, asking questions and being very civil about everything. Really nice guy and I couldn't have asked for it to go any better. The future looks bright and...
Go completely custom! You could make your own frame easily or pick up a salvage yard 1 or 2 ton truck for the chassis. Tilt cab is an awesome idea, making it look like a prototype vehicle would be cool. There's a like new FMTV cab complete with all wiring and interior/armor for sale at my local...
Cool! Do the 302's use cast iron pistons or are the aluminum? Now I want another M211 with the original drivetrain in it. There is a man selling a really nice one in Phoenix AZ for $5500 obo, he said he has no idea what it's worth and is open to offers. Zero rust and a real gem.
WellhHe left before I was even born and nobody heard from him again for 21 years until last night. He wants to have lunch Monday at noon. I'm keeping my expectations low to avoid any possible disappointment, but it would be nice if we hit things off and eventually formed some kind of...
The Canadian MLVW's had 8.2 Detroits. I would LOVE to see a 6-71 powered M35. I think it would fit if you made little doggy house in the cab. Most of the trucks equipped with the 6-71's had dog houses anyway.
Make sure you sound deaden the cab if you don't want to loose what's left of your...
Dave, my condolences for your lost buddy. Will brainstorm tonight for you....
Fortunately there's acres of property on the GMC for more than several appreciative gestures to be stenciled on.
I am doing mine for my uncle art. We got news today uncle dee (3rd uncle) is in ICU and not doing...
PROGRESS
-Ordered more parts yesterday and today
-1 cylinder head cleaned and ready for reassembly
-Wiring SNAFU fixed under the dash (I mixed up a couple connectors, hehehe)
And I still have enough cash for the rest of my tires and some brake parts.
SO the poop is I think by mid to late...
