    M1114 project

I've heard while reading these forums that the wheel itself has a different bead shape, since the runflats hold the bead on. This is why people say you shouldnt remove the runflats unless you use a PVC insert. So I'm assuming the tire also has a different bead shape to mate with it. But again...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Not sure what cover you are talking about, got a picture? Edit: oh that big heat shield thing? I havent touched that, might be a good idea though.

    M1114 project

I'm no expert on tires, but I think the bead shape is different on military tires because they are designed to be used with runflats. I think most people that go with aftermarket tires also change their wheels to 17". Someone who knows more than me will likely chime in.

Let us know how it goes, I'd be shocked if dynamat will stay on the oil pan or bell housing. You have heat, wind, and gravity working against you. By the way I'm working on a very similar project, just having installed horse stall mats on the tunnel and floor. I also installed kilmat (similar...

    Electrical Kill Switch

Heres a tip for hiding the switch...instead of hard mounting the switch to a panel, have it free hanging on the end of the wires (with good strain releif). Wrap the entire switch in a bicycle inner tube. Tie wrap in place somewhere hidden. You can flip the switch "through" the inner tube. This...

Camo, I saw you post about this years ago and did this to both of my trucks. Super easy to do, effective, and zero issues.

    Lenders for HMMWV purchase?

I did a home equity loan when rates were 2.5%. Enough for the truck and repairs/upgrades. Mine will be paid off in a few months.

    Steelsoldiers’ BIG M1152A1 HMMWV Project!!

You might want to consider making them into two halves for each chain, such that the tubes are open at the bottom when the tailgait is up. This will prevent the tubes from filling with water and rusting out the chains.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Good to know, I was actually wondering about that. I just finished installing almost 200 pounds of rubber mats, plus the turret parts and now the rear tire carrier. I figure every pound will help the ride quality!

    What Would You Do Here?

There is a drain tube in the back to prevent the valley from filling up with water and rusting out your injection pump. Lots of threads talking about it, do some searching and you'll find pictures.

Installed horse stall mats from tractor supply. I opted to remove all of the plywood, including underneath the rear AC unit. Thats when I realized that unit has "feet" all around it and there are corresponding holes in the plywood. There are also refrigerant tubes that go straight down through...
