Purchased my Humvee September 08, 2021.
Submitted EUC form to GP September 10.
EUC approved January 30, 2022.
Picked up Humvee February 02.
Have been told during subsequent phone calls each month since, my SF97 request from the Marines would go out in next batch.
Was informed during today’s...
Painted my NOS Ibis Tek bumper. First, cleaned bare metal then primed with RUST-OLEUM flat gray primer. Next, painted with BEHR ULTRA Exterior (flat) BASE 4854 tinted per recipe in photo below. Paint applied with 4” roller. Small brush used for limited access areas.
When dry, color matched...
The original body mounts on my M1152A1 #347XXX were disintegrated. Had them replaced with these pictured from Hummer Parts Guy. Advertised as “Revised Material”. Time will tell if these are any better.
Paint peeling off when delivered. Paint sprayed over chrome, no primer or scuffing for better adhesion. Yes, pricey!
Not yet installed.
Given the high cost of doors these days, I’m installing a through-bolt immediately above each door hinge in the door jambs to mitigate a quick lift and gone...
Look at lower right side of turbo exhaust cover for your mystery part. Painted mine to match valve covers. Actually, I kinda dig your green covers!…..”dig”, yes, I’m old. In fact, I still use aol.com!
During a break from heavier work I decided to clean, prime, and paint turbo exhaust cover to match valve covers.
Hidden by the doghouse nobody else will see it, but I know it’s done and feel better about it.
Reconfiguring my M1152A1B2FK5 AMG #347XXX to M1165ish. Removed factory 2 man hardtop w/integrated B-pillar. Installed soft-top B-pillar after cutting/lowering height of B-pillar to level with A-pillar.
Have temporarily installed M1114 hardtop to be measured for mods to top before final...
Contact Joe at Twisted Metalworks, LLC. Not too far from you in Jersey. He is making half doors now, and also does custom plasma jet artwork. Marry the two! https://twistedmetalwork.com/
I just received a set of 4 doors with full coverage from him and the craftsmanship is very good. I opted for...

”Four months ago”! , No, it was 2 weeks ago, March 24th! But I understand how waiting on EUC approval can distort one’s perception of time…. Seems like forever! Sorry I didn’t get back to you earlier. I purchased the deep water plumbing kit from ”OEMParts998” on eBay. The CDR valve...
Nothing wrong with preferring either one.
I don’t mean to imply my design preferences are better than anyone else’s. When completed, my Humvee will be different than any I have seen. Some people will like different features than others, but each feature I incorporate will be for a specific...
2 layers of 1/4” completely bonded together. This is stronger than a single piece of 1/2” according to an engineering article I remember reading. Though I can’t recall exactly the publisher.
I suspect “X” was originally used on oem fiberglass doors for reducing flex and inexpensively adding a measure of fiberglass strength. This would still be true of aftermarket fiberglass , or thin gauge metal doors. However, It is my belief that “X” has become more a design element rather than a...
I haven’t decided whether to install OEM type windows or build external mounted horizontal sliding type (no, not RV windows) like true armored doors.
If I go with the armored style I can install gun ports below the windows. Already have gun ports for each of the four doors.
Received my Twisted Metalworks doors today. I opted for X-delete to enjoy benefit of complete 1/2” door thickness. Just hanging on hinges at the moment. Will be adjusted soon. Great fit and finish! Easy to see so much work has gone into fabricating these doors. Anyone should be proud to have...
