TMs should cover an upgrade to 100 amp and may give you some clue to what may need to be changed.
After having two of the military alternators die and do its best to burn down my truck, I'm going to look into much less expensive commercial alternators that can handle a low battery and die more...
Not talking about the buzzer. It is like an air valve dumps the air tanks into the air intake stack which makes a an awful wailing noise, like a dieing pipe organ. This is after the truck has been running and pressurised the system and you shut it off and engage the parking brake
Added 4 new group 65 batteries and it started right up. We quickly discovered the blown gauges were shorted and pulled the dash to unplug them, kind of obvious in hindsight.
Backed it up onto the trailer, chained it down and drove it to my brothers. I was very happy not to have to tow/winch...
I've gone through two voltage regulators and had two gauges blow out and my ABS burn out (hopefully that is all) using the military alternators. I am planning to switch to a commercial bull dozer 24v/60amp big bearing/brushless alternator.
Beyond a new Alternator, what else are you changing to...
On the recovery of my M109A3 from Ft. Hood, they gave us a jump start and on the way back to DFW we left it running when we went into a Wendy's to eat. Brother didn't think twice about it, but it was a new experience to me. (i.e., I was a little uncomfortable)
Also left it running when we...
I disconnected all the wires, including the ones under the box w/ glue coating. They are all taped up and separated. That alternator hates this truck, I don't want it doing anything but holding the belt until I can remove it and replace it with a commercial Bulldozer alternator.
No winch on...
That looks like the trailer I've seen him use before.
My truck did well moving it up the drive way, which has a slope and over a curb into my back yard. Main issue was after I got everything on grass and tried to pull it up the slope of my backyard. The tires on my truck started slipping so...
I don't know the technical name but from a layman view point, it has drop down ramps and the deck that is about 3' off the ground.
Pickup is 14 year old GMC, 4 wheel drive half ton. I shifted it into low range and walked the M931A2 about a 100 yards yesterday to get it off the street. I...
My brother was able to get a flatbed for his Semi-truck, so we are now changing the dynamic of the conversation. Now the issue is loading it onto the trailer. Worse case is with a come-a-long or high lift jack, but I really don't want to experience that kind of slow painful fun. He has access...
Thanks for everyone's help. The City has given me another week to move my truck so some of the pressure to move it now has been eased. (i.e., I will defer to my brother on when he wants to do this.)
My brother has picked up two 10' hoses and 4 glad-hands to make up a set of hoses for the flat...
I dont think the front brakes have springs to cage?
I dont have hoses and didn't realize I couldn't buy them from a truck place, so looks like I will not be able to hook up the deuce's air to the M931a2.
Confused about not having to drop the drive shats. If there is a chance of damaging any...
I assume the black box you are talking about is the one behind the wash fluid jug, but not familiar with the override knob or other procedures. Is there a TM covering this procedure or is this field knowledge?
I am a bit gun shy at this point after blowing out all my lights, gauges and seeing...
30 mph is max if that much. We plan to put the deuce in low range, so it isn't going to be a quick trip by any means.
I'm going to defer the driving to my brother who drives big trucks and has tons more experience then myself.
I will place the transmission and transfer case in neutral, but...
Thanks, I've been trying to research as well. I will remove the drive shafts, and uncage the brakes and buy some airlines to hook it up to the deuce's air. I have a set of chains that I just bought, but also hoped that they would go unused a bit longer. :) I did use one to pull the truck back...
In the process of moving my truck to my brothers my Alternator fried everything including gages.
I have disconnected the alternator, removed fried batteries, installed what should be okay batteries and attempted to start the truck. Buzzers go off but it does not turn over. Don't know how much...
