I would break those tires down and inspect the insides before I would even think of airing them up. As Mike82ndABN has posted there is probably sidewall damage. If there is, the sidewall could fail or at least you will have a zipper tear in the future. Tires are cheap lives aren’t.
All I can say is you must have encountered one of the “bright” ones. I met one of them when I went to title, register and tag an M54A2. The eighteen-digit vin number confused the bright one behind the counter, most vehicles have a seventeen-digit number. After showing the data plate off the dash...
The symptom you describe sounds like a head gasket. A simple way to check is with a surgical/ latex glove. Remove the cap from the coolant reservoir and with the engine running hold the open end of the glove around the opening of the reservoir. If a head gasket is leaking into the coolant the...
You didn’t mention if it is the upper or lower torque rod. The upper can be a bear, the lower is much easier to do.
The only unusual tools that I found necessary is a 2 ¼” combination wrench and a 2 ¼” socket.
The book tells you to jack everything up, pull the tires and wheels, remove the...
Those of you that have attended the Aberdeen Rally in the past know that the late Dudley Taylor use to have a get together on Thursday evening and grill steaks and what not. A few of us are planning a little get together on Thursday and plan on a similar menu. If anyone wishes to join us feel...
The item you probably saw was an OTC 5096A Easy Lever Wheel Dolly. That tool is only rated for 300 lbs. and doesn’t work well on uneven surfaces. I just use a standard tire bar or a pry bar to move tires off of the hub or stand them up.
What you have are regular tire chains. That is correct to have only a tension device on one side. As you have surmised the open hook goes to the inside of the tire and the tensioner goes to the outside. The way it was explained to me some time ago was that the inside chain is set to the proper...
I may have missed if someone mentioned the ability to put air in a tire. The standard GI set up with an air line with a glad hand on one end and a Milton setup on the other end comes in handy. I personally prefer a glad hand with an air fitting and use stand air lines. That way one can use an...
The picture of the tire you show is classic tow in problem. Specifically toed in too much. What you have is the front tires are pointing in instead of pointing forward. The result is the outer edges of the tires are essentially being pushed forward. There are several ways to fix it. It is best...
First off you need to determine what type of battery you have. If it is a wet cell it will have six caps to check the electrolyte. If it is a AGM/ Hawker it will not have the removable caps.
The AGM battery charges differently than a wet cell battery. First and most importantly about charging...
This brings back memories. I don’t know if this will help since the M37 was out of the system when I was in, all we had were M35s made in 62 and 63. Besides the driver’s license one had to have a DA 2404 that had to be filled out before going on road. A DD1970 dispatch form filled out by the...
Does the differential, pinion and axles turn freely? If so this is what I would do. Find someone with a stream cleaner and clean the differential area only, spray liberal amount of Brake Klein to displace any water, spray light coat of oil to protect till installation. Install the thing, fill it...
Everything symptom you described is classic primer loss. Any or all of the leaks you describe could have caused the problem.
These trucks are very sensitive to air leaks in the fuel lines. I would repair the leak by the solenoid and repair the primer pump before it leaves you somewhere...
It can be a little tricky getting your hand behind the dash, but it will fit. I like to put some nonelectric grease on the contacts and the threads before I install the connector on the back of the switch.
That is good that you found the problem and are able to get the truck home.
I would suggest that one of the first things on the vehicle maintenance list would be to replace the dryer. While one could rebuild the existing dryer there are members on the forum that sell new dryers for less than...
If it were me I would top the coolant level with plain full concentrate (green) antifreeze. It will provide corrosion protection till you can work on it. These engines were designed to use standard old time antifreeze with an SCA additive, either in the antifreeze or added separately.
I check...
As NDT has posted the M172A1 would be a good trailer for your needs. I can’t comment on WI law about whether you would be legal.
The M932A2 is somewhat under powered but for short distances would get the job done. The M172A1 trailer weighs around 17K by itself and the ramps are quite heavy and...
